Nearly complete Serotta
http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/bik/1264540910.html Serotta "Nova Special X" 1989 57cm (22.5") - awesome bicycle frame - $850 Reply to: sale-kd6x4-1264540910@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?] Date: 2009-07-11, 11:36AM EDT Serotta "Nova Special X" frame 57cm (22.5") [center crank to center top tube] exc condition (very few very tiny paint chips, no spills) serial # 90823 made in 1989 w/ colombus steel tubing (cromoly SLX), 3 tone fade paint (fuscia, orange & lemon) less than 500 miles. The bike is not built complete but comes with some cool old Campagnolo Nuovo Record parts (circa 70's - 80's) such as : front and rear derailleur (great cond) side pull brakes (great cond, but don't fit frame w/out drop nut), crankset (somewhat worn), and seat post - Cianelli rams horn handlebars and stem, the wheels are older worn Campy hubs w/ a 5 speed Regina freewheel. One owner, my father had it built as a second bike for club racing, then used some parts for another bike. I was going to rebuild it, but it's too small for me (I'm several inches taller than Dad). It's really beautiful, the pics don't do it justice... the paint has an inner glow that really shines in the sunlight! also note the graceful curve of the chain stays, the resolution for the seat stays at the seat tube, and the sculpture and finishing at all the joins! $850.00 (Northampton, Ma - shipping or pickup is up to you.) http://www.addamidiom.com/photostage..._sale-5_sm.jpg |

Its a bad pic but form what I can see it does NOT have Campy. Is it worth $75? Probably. Is it worth buying? Depends what your needs are.

CLASSIC VINTAGE LOTUS LADIES 12 SPEED, TWIN TUBE FRAME Bike
Price: $75.00 Address: New Port Richey, FL Date Listed: Jul-12-09 as best I could find, this was named after the car. it has 27" wheels, is painted red and is in good shape for its age. Frame size 19 ½”. Can't get the pics to copy, but it's a mixte, red, looks a bit beat up. |
54cm Japanese-Built Bianchi frame set from early 80s. I've heard from different sources that the Japanese built Bianchis of this era were better built than their Italian built counterparts, though having less panache. at $12+ shipping

There's a chance that's the South African-made Lotus (for the car manufacturer), rather than the Japanese-made Lotus. If so, probably relatively rare (although not necessarily high end). The headbadge would be the way to tell with this bike.

Just curious, are you referring to Lotus, as in the company founded by Colin Chapman?

I've never heard of this bike and I don't know if this is a good deal or not, but it is a bike for the very tall. It almost looks silly.
