Trek 520 54cm or 21” Touring Bike, Reynolds frame - $250 (Newton)

Classic Trek with the panels on the seat tube and the desirable brass headbadge. This is a 1983 Trek when the frames were hand made at the bench and made from Reynolds 501 double butted touring bike tubing. The components are the classic Suntour, Diacomp mix and mostly original with the exception of the crank upgraded from the stock SR triple to a French Stronglight triple. This is a great classic bike for around town or for light touring and rides great! It has wide gearing for most any hill. The bike is probably suitable for a rider 5’ 8” to 6’. The bike is in great mechanical conditon and ready for the season.

Please include a phone number in your response for calls or texts. I can meet you at the Riverside T-station if that is helpful and you can ride it home.

Buck Owens-inspired paint job?

Nice bike. Judging by the super duper shiny tires and the way "David" worded his ad, sounds like a flipper and not a bike guy.

^^^^^^^ And given the.... er.... quality of the ad text, the photos are surprisingly good. Getting to be a rarity that a CL poster actually knows how to hold a camera horizontally and vertically when appropriate, and how pre-focus works.

Yep, prolly a non-rider. No one planning to ever ride a bike would Armor All the tires first. I doubt there's anyone posting here that would ever do that to their own bike, Armor All'ed bike tires are dangerously slippery.

I didn't know Fat Chance were made is Summa-ville. (aka 'the ville, Summer-town) The address on the cataloge in the ad was a short distance from where I lived for years.

The headbadge places it in the '79 to '82 era while the apparently stamped dropouts would put it in the entry level road bikes from that time. The non-sloping fork crown would eliminate the Lemans so it is likely an Omega or Sport DLX. If the paint is original it looks like a '79 Omega.

I had a '79. It had a bridge for the cable stop for the center-pull brakes. Either the one in the ad is not a '79 or it's broken.

Bridgestone MB-3 18" frame rear rack 26" wheels 21 speed shimano - $125 (Allston)

I have a Bridgestone MB-3 with an 18 inch frame and 26 inch tires. The rear rack is sturdy and holds baskets well. The tires are in good condition and the brakes are tight. The 21 speed shimano Deorre DX component set up shifts well through the gears. One of the pedals is missing a plastic piece, still rides well! The seat is comfortable and is good to go, cash or trade, show contact info
