Almost worth it just for the Superbee bits...
https://boston.craigslist.org/bmw/bi...011251042.html

1986 Performance Superbe road bike, made in Japan. Tange No. 1 steel tubing with short point lugs. Full SunTour Superbe Pro group (including pedals) except for the headset which is an alloy Tange Levin. Rims are Araya super hard anodized. All original except for the tires which are like new Panaracers. Turbo saddle has a small tear. It has been completely disaassembled, cleaned and lubricated. Brake and shifter cables are new. The paint shows wear but is nice overall as is the chrome. Parts show minor wear. The hoods are dry and cracking. The bar tape shows wear. This is a high quality bike that is ready to ride. Asking $225.

It looks like that from the opposite side as well. Look at how large the gap is between the DT and the front wheel.

Just over $25 shipped for easily 2-3x worth that in parts if anyone is hunting... didn't expect this to last overnight. I was only interested in the 3TTT stem...

Claude Butler Majestic, $125 start, no bids yet, local pickup only. My size and styling. I've never owned a CB before but this is what I'd probably aim for if I got one (my size too!).

(Also tossing in an ad, I've looked at this model before)

ok ok! you may be right! but I am always suspicious to call those off a photo- particularly when they are as bad as this guys.. from strange angles and with the bars not totally straight.
Its sort of like saying: the wheels aren't round! but in this case it does look egregious.

Don't See These Every Day?
Vintage Specialized Stump Jumper - $80
Posted about 3 hours ago

"80s Specialized Stump Jumper 19" frame all original made in Japan , stored in the house. Very low mileage. I will not answer emails without phone number.
bicycle frame material: steel
bicycle type: mountain
frame size: 19"
wheel size: 26 in"
https://raleigh.craigslist.org/bik/d...011653047.html
(Disclosure: I am informed I am 2nd in line to purchase this, so likely won't get it. That's what I get for going out for an evening ride? Ah, Fate, you deal a harsh hand. It also is 19", and though I'm sure I could make it work, I'd prefer one which is 21". <sigh emoji>)
So it goes.

Questions I've wanted to ask repeatedly because for years I periodically see a StumpJumper (and HardRocks) locally for under $100.
What's the draw, why are they so sought after?
Is there anything specific to look (out) for?
Are they specifically good for a specific purpose, riding style and/or retrofit?

I think they set the bar for much that came after, they did exactly what they were meant to do at a good pricepoint, many sold, money made, here we are.
Big S sold it as a lifestyle as well with all the gear to go with/for it, marketing was huge and paid off so as well.
They were/are great bikes, first mass produced MTB depending on exact criteria, really helped Big S establish itself as a force.
Stumpys are the top of the heap, Hardrocks, Streetstompers, Rockhoppers, etc. while still great bikes carry much less cache to be sure.

There is a lot to this depending on where you stand, that one was an early one, lugged, biplane fork crown, looked like maybe Mafac brakes, sometimes they have TA cranks, bullmoose, etc. depending on exact year.

I'll know tomorrow at noon that someone else beat me to it. Woo. Can hardly wait. Being second in line near all the time is trying.
(Sorry for the whinging.)
