Waterford X-11 with goodies (no photo of the goodies!) $600 - been listed for a while and seller keeps bumping to top of local listings

Per ad - Waterford X-11 hand built frame with Campagnolo components. Frame top tube is 58cm center to center and the seat tube is 58cm center to top. It was originally built for cyclocross but is now setup for road riding (would also work great on gravel roads or with racks for long distance touring). Bike has Campy 8 speed ergo shifting (16 gears, crank 52x39, cogs 23x12), Paul cantilever brakes, an adjustable Look ergo stem, and Ritchey pedals (new cleats included). Extra crank, tires, and stem available to make it more off road friendly. More info see https://waterfordbikes.com/.

Nice bike, guessing it came with a mix of Deore/road. Wonder if those are the extras? 11 series is 531.

Agreed, nothing that can't be undone so no real harm or foul.

Great color choice and could be finished for greater effect as well.

Motobecane Profil 2 vintage bicycle 21" Twelve Speed - $175 (Amesbury, MA - South Hampton, NH)

I'm the original owner of this 21" Motobecane Profil 2. I purchased it new from Pedal Power in Acton in 1982 (I should have the original receipt and books somewhere). Suntour Cyclone derailleur, Shimano brakes. It's always been stored inside. I recently put in new tubes and tuned it up as my son rode it for a year or two before outgrowing it. It's a good bike, I guess becoming more collectible after 37 years. I took lousy pictures, should've wiped the garage dust off but the paint and condition are good. The components all work fine (it has been ridden this summer). I would have no problem keeping another 35 years but am in a purging mode and trying to downsize.

Isn't that actually a Super Corsa? List price is $35 cheaper than what I paid for my extremely original TdF in the same size.

I live in the area. Probably could pick it up tomorrow and store it for as long as you need. Contact the seller and make a deal then get back to me with a PM. I am busy tonight and tomorrow morning, though. Be quick. There are a couple of flippers in the area that are relentless.

Didn't the SC have Campagnolo dropouts, while the TdF had Simplex?

It was highly variable what you got for fork ends and dropouts. It all depends what was on-hand at the time.

SC had the checkered flag sticker near the front of the head tube, as observed on the subject bike above:

( See all pics of a very similar bike on CABE here: https://thecabe.com/forum/attachment...er-jpg.557134/ )

Love to get my hands on this one and give it some fine tuning.

Big potential and a small cash outlay.

If it were in STP I'd likely give it a chance.

The example you reference has Campagnolo dropouts, crank and headset?

https://thecabe.com/forum/threads/19...6/#post-761516

The CL bike I posted has Simplex dropouts, Stronglight crankset and a headset which does not appear to be Campagnolo. (And it has a significantly different sticker on the forks.)

Were the SC and TdF frames identical in geometry as well as tubing? (I don't know.)

Was the only difference between the SC and the TdF that sticker?

(I am not trying to be argumentative here; I really don't know these Gitanes all that well.)

(Hopefully, @hazetguy gets the bike. and we get more pics!)

I'll put it to you this way: If you remove all the stickers off a Tdf and a SC and you put them side by side, nobody is going to be able to tell them apart.

Ask me how I know. You can't give any credence to what the bike is equipped with. My TdF (not same as previously linked bike) has a Sugino crank but Campy drivetrain. My TdF has Campy fork ends and Simplex dropouts and was delivered to me with the "original" parts, MAFAC Competition brakes and an all-Campy drivetrain. My mystery Gitane also has Campy dropouts and fork ends. I've seen SC and TdF with all Simplex and all Campy terminations.

But yes, the decals as presented on that bike, appearing original and in correct positions, would make it an SC, not a TdF.

This auction has a treasure trove of parts and bikes. You could build several bikes with what's there.

Looks to me like the headtube actually has an "aero" teardrop shape to it, probably with another tube inside--adding weight and doing practically nothing else. It is a cool-looking old bike, though.

Yep, it would appear so!

But note the kickstand. I would almost guarantee the chainstays are crushed. So buyer beware.
