On a positive note, it probably slowed down whatever oxidation was already starting and preserved the decals for future reference. It doesn't look like the remaining original paint would have been worth saving, so a trip to the sandblaster was probably in order. Also, given the description, it looks like the seller got just a bare frame and hung parts on it to make it rideable. It doesn't seem like he hacked anything off the frame, so it can almost certainly be restored.

That bike could actually have been named after a municipality, which itself was probably named after the saint.

Looks like a Benotto 3000 to me, not a true De Rosa. Still...

I'm of the mindset if a car is built to Ferrari specs with Ferrari-sourced parts and a Ferrari employee builds it, maybe even in the Ferrari factory, but you slap Toyota emblems on it, it's hardly a Toyota.
I don't know where the consensus came down on this, but it's been discussed a lot of times in various places including BF: Benotto - derosa link ??
It's been rumured Ugo De Rosa built the team Benotto bikes and had a hand in the Benotto 3000 frames with diamond-shaped stays. This looks similar to the one I've got in my shop right now, although I didn't get a good look at the stays on it.
We see it other times, like, isn't there a Cinelli-built Centurion?

Yeah...I’m in love with this bike. Ambitious pricing without decals, but it’s a very cool velo.

What is this? I've never seen a "womens" Centurion with a non-parallel top tube.

Interesting bike, though I can't tell from the pictures if it's my size; might be too small.
I like Shimano 600, but it was never the top of the line, was it?

1986 Gios
Niagara Falls, Ontario
Asking $480 Canadian (about $370USD) but I expect will talk.
Seller won't drive to Toronto so will have only local interest and may not get a lot of interest.
** I apologise for the large font but can't seem to correct it
Frame: 51/53cm seat/top tube c-to-c. Standover height = 30.5". Handmade in Italy. Lugged Columbus SLX tubing. Cinelli bottom bracket shell. Braze-ons for 2 bottle cages. Some paint nicks, mainly on top tube. No dents. "Compact" refers to the chainrings being 50/39T. The bike weighs slightly less than 20 lbs.

^^^^ Yeah, that looks like an 022 sticker on the seat tube. That's the kind of bike that, advertised correctly, could fetch $200, but the seller create a posting appropriate to a $50 bike. He'll be lucky to get what he's asking.

Seller is aggressively trying to sell this John Howard frame and fork built by Dave Moultan. Just pushed an offer out to his watchers for $75. Add in $30 for shipping. Seems like a good deal. Doubt it'll last long.

I actually have an 82' Trek 412 with that tubing. It's a good bike, especially for one that was on the bottom of their pecking order.
