How much does shipping a whole bike typically cost?

This one has been listed for awhile, not sure if it's still available or not.

1980's Black Lightening Cannondale Criterium Bike - $150 (Centennial, DTC area)

I am letting go of my old Cannondale bike from the 80's.

The frame is in good condition.

The bike has a really striking look, but the it could use new tires and a good tune up and cleaning.

In the last 10 years it's been ridden to and from work for one year (1 mile each way), otherwise it's been stored in the garage.

Wife says it's time to let it go, so here it is.

Size. I'm 6'1" and it fit me great in the 80's. I ride a 58cm now, but I'm also 44. I think it's probably a bit small for me these days. It could be a medium. I do not see any sizing listed on the bike.

Now that's the Italian legend I've been searching for as my main rider! Too bad I'm a 54cm (maybe 55cm)... unless he's measured wrong or CIOCC runs small??

... Probably wishful thinking

HOT DEAL COMING THROUGH

Trek 620 Touring Road Bike Frame - $40 (Corvallis)

https://corvallis.craigslist.org/bik/1786696156.html

1985 Trek 620 Touring Road Frame

- 58 cm frame size
- 57 cm top tube
- Reynolds 531 Steel
- Horizontal dropouts, 130 mm spacing. This frame will accept 700c or 27 inch wheels.
- brazed-on posts for downtube shifters, accepts Shimano and compatible shifters
- Matching Shimano Exage front and rear Derailleurs included
- Shimano friction downtube shifters included
- Three sets of water bottle bosses for carrying gear
- Seat post included
- Bottom bracket threads accept a standard english 68 mm bottom bracket.
- The original brake calipers are included, if you wish, but are not installed.

I got this with the intent of restoring the frame to make a dynamite touring bike. This is a full-on touring bike. You could build this up and comfortably ride across the continent if you liked. I simply have too many projects and no time for this frame.

Two caveats I see: looks NOT like a 58cm bike, and is that a dent on the top-tube?

As it happens, this is a bike I am selling. It truly is 56cm (C-T). I am 5'9" with shorter legs and longer torso and arms than than average, and it fits me fine.

If you just type "Craigslist" in google, the result will have a search craigslist box that will search them all.

That's just postage, having a bike shop pack it up would add to the cost of course, but I'm pretty sure a smallish bike box can be sent from CO to NJ for about $40. I might be way off but I sent a Schwinn LeTour from CO to TX for about $25 last year, IIRC.

Funny thing! I just picked up a 1985 Trek 620 at lunch. Really nice ride! Pics at 11.....

In addition to all the other caveats already listed, I doubt many brakes will fit 700c wheels on this frame, the mounts seem pretty high and were made for 27" wheels.

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. I emailed the guy and almost pulled the trigger, but, in this hot of a bike market there's a reason why I got even a chance at that one.

I went and looked at this and it just did'nt add up for me.......................The frame appeared to be of decent quality with forged drops and an intigrated hanger. It was poorly repainted, Tour De France was visible on the down tube under the paint.....had an Everton Design decal on the head tube, a worn decal on the seat tube read Hi Ten and the numbers 250....were visible, cheap crankset and down tube shifters, Forte bars, Sachs hubs, Suntour Cyclone derailluers...............

Seen it in person and it is amazing

Up For Sale: 60cm 1983 Specialized Expedition

This is one with a very, very nice modern makeover.

Japanese made bikes of this era are praised and valued by many for their build quality and ride quality.

With the upgrades this one can turn some heads.

This bike has been updated with modern Shimano XT 9 speed drive train components
and triple crankset with 22 x 34 x 46 Race Face Rings (very helpful for mountain pass climbing)
Dura Ace 9 speed bar end shifters, TRP EuroX Canti Brakes (https://www.bikeman.com/content/view/1342/42)
and other high quality parts all around.

It's a very comfortable riding bike.

The standover height is 34".

The top tube is 58cm.

The wheels were built by a master wheel builder with 36 spokes and Mavic A719 Rims with XT hubs,

The fenders are Giles Berthoud.

The headset is a Chris King.

The matching cables are by Jagwire.

The saddle is a Brooks B17 Champion Special.

Nitto Noodle bars from Rivendell plus Soma Tall Stem Adapter, Origin8 Polished Stem

High Quality Tires in 700 x 35 size...a Schwalbe Marathon Extreme rugged expedition quality
tire in rear & Vittoria Randonneur in front.
Both have only 800 miles on them with no flats...they are tough tires with great puncture prevention features.

***Mods made by my local frame builder before it was nickel plated.***
-Spread rear drops to 135mm
-Checked frame for alignment
-Brazed on 2 down tube shifter cable stops (with small hearts in center which matches small hearts on inside of fork crown)
-Remove top tube cable guides from top of top tube
-Brazed on 2 new top tube brake cable guides on side of top tube
-Brazed on Columbine Chain holder
-Brazed on Pump Peg on head tube

All in all this is a great looking and great riding machine, either unloaded to ride across town or
loaded up with gear for a tour across the country.

It has proven itself very capable in the approximately 1600 miles I have ridden it since the makeover.

It would even serve as a town cruiser to ride out to get coffee and set outside on the patio
and turn some heads or go buy some groceries in style if that is what you would like to do.
It's pretty much an 'all rounder' type bike.

I would consider shipping at buyers expense.

Price is firm. Trying to duplicate this bike would run in the neighborhood of $1000 more than I am asking.

I will be updating the pics as the pedals in the picture are gone and some very basic ones are on it now plus the tires were changed to the ones described above.

Thanks for looking.
