Crappy pics, but I think this is a small 1987 Trek 330 Elance. If it is, then its $100 for a full 531 frame bike that appears to be in nice shape.

Mens 1960 Hercules 3 Speed 21" Frame - $75 (Victory Neighborhood,N.Mpls.)

Good condition vintage 1960 Hercules 3 Speed bicycle. The frame size is 21 inches with 30 inch stand over height. Made in England the bike has full fenders, Miller Generator with Headlight & Tail Light and Sturmey Archer Thumb Shifter. The SA Hub is dated 1960 and shifts through all three gears just fine. The bikes was missing one of the original gray hand grips so I replaced with a black set. I will include the original grip and a vinyl tank bag that came with the bike. (sorry, the bag is not a Brooks) Everything works fine and the tires are in good condition but show a fair amount of wear. The bike could use a good tune and clean, that is why the price is only $75 or best offer.

Any chance there may be someone may be willing to facilitate this for me? I've got inquiries in to the owner but this is my size and I've been looking for an Italian gem as my main rider, so, I'm crossing my fingers.

Looks like Joe's bike. Last time he had it up, he was asking $1000. I don't see a price on this new ad, though.

There are a few high end steel frames/bikes being newly advertised on Chicago CL. There are no pics, and I know nothing about the seller, so caveat emptor.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as C&V, looks like its maybe aluminum or fillet brazed or tig welded steel (hard to see in pictures), but it seems to be a decent price for a Ciocc.

Women's Terry Despatch Road Racer Small - $350 (Cambridge, MA)

Date: 2010-06-17, 1:51PM EDT
Reply to: sale-4a6yk-1796936659@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Women cyclists wonder why bicycle companies don't know
that the average American is 5' 4" tall. Well here is
something from a company that does know that.

For sale a Georgena Terry women's 12 speed sport bicycle,
Despatch model circa 1988, small adult size, 19 inch frame
29 inch standover height. This is a light weight, double butted,
lugged and braised steel frame road racing bike --
made in Japan using high quality components. It is a diamond frame,
which is usually called a men's bicycle, but Georgena changed the
proportions and angles to better fit women. They use the odd
combination of a 700c size rear wheel and a 24 inch front wheel
(25-520 tire size) so you can pedal while turning without hitting
the front wheel.

Check out the company web pages at https://www.terrybicycles.com/
and https://forums.terrybicycles.com/index.php
Their local dealer is https://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/terry/index.html

These are very desirable collectors items and will go wherever you
can go with skinny tires. Its just what you'd like for 50 or 100 mile
a day trips. It's condition is very good except for a few small ugly
rust spots. Unfortunately it does not have a Terry saddle and it would
be better if it had new tires.

Price $350. Location: North Cambridge, MA No, I will not ship it.

Great thread! First post. Took a stab at this Peugeot frame about an hour from my house. E-mailed my phone but no response. It was only posted about 40 minutes before I contacted. Didn't last long. https://nh.craigslist.org/bik/1794697062.html

Phonetically in Italian it would be close to 'choke', but someone posted a video clip recently in which Giovanni Pelizzoli explains it's a nickname and pronounces it similar to 'chooch'.

EDIT: I missed brian3069's post. Doh!

I come from a first generation Italian neighborhood."chooch" was a nickname given to one who was not real bright, somewhat forgetful and simple.I think Giovanni was avoiding telling the meaning of his nickname. How could you have a nickname that means nothing? The word has to mean something. Have you ever called someone a bunch of letters that dont mean anything.

I'm 2nd generation. It usually meant "jackass" around our household.

Often second generation Italian communities in the US have 'corrupted' the pronunciation of Italian words. Moozarell, galamad, mairinair. Oy vey! Granted, the pronunciations are very close to the Sicilian dialect rather than the Tuscanese dialect, but they are still different. In my mother's hometown near Naples, 'ciuco' or 'donkey' is pronounced 'chooch-a', but it sounds slightly different than the way Giovanni pronounces it. Classic Rendezvous claims it means 'poker face' in his local dialect. Northern and Southern dialects of Italian can be very different; my mother, a Naples native, has trouble understanding northern dialects. At any rate, in Naples, it's a fairly soft insult, like calling someone 'dummy' when they make a mistake.

What I want to know is, where's all the Southern Italian vintage steel? There must be a tradition of racing in the south as well. The only Southern Italian frame builder I have knowledge of is the 'fake' De Rosa of Pozzuoli, which is still in business.
