Rear cable goes around the post on the left. It's a hanger on the binder bolt that looks like it is going through the post.

1991 Mercian 58cm in St. Louis - $400

This looks really nice and in pretty great shape. The frame is 531C, looks like full 600 tricolor group. Not my size, otherwise I'd be very interested. Seller posted this in 'Vehicles' so maybe they're getting no attention and could be swayed on price.

I thought Americas all had bar end shifters? I’m surprised to see “aero” downtube shifters on that.

It is very pretty...

Can't say that I agree, LR76. In fact, its pretty hard to look at. I have a buddy from NC, who is fond of describing something ugly as, "Uglier'n a hat fulla ***holes."

I might feel the same tomorrow, it was late. Crazy story,. Developed under a Swedish Gov. grant, prototyped "successfully" and put into production by Volvo in early 80s (still with gov. money). Full of problems. Eventually remaining stock pawned off into the Caribbean someplace, (cause plastic doesn't rust... though it usually degrades in UV pretty rapidly...)

The bike that makes every other Volvo look.... not ugly. No way SAAB could have made a bike this angular.

A "red alert" without a link? Still, CDN(presumably)$100 would pay for the _bicycle_ (i.e. the Trek), and you could just give away the two beer cans.

+1. Not a fan of the stem or unicrown fork either, but sometimes you make compromises.

Road Racing Colnago with campagnolo record titanium and carbon parts - $1500 (Altadena/Pasadena)

I don't think the C&V market will ever get bad enough that you see something like this for under $1000, so $1500 seems like a fair enough starting bid. He could have pumped up the tires and straightened the handlebar tape, but i actually like seeing stuff like that.

Says "Nevada City" on the top tube NDS, color scheme matches 2003 per Google:

Blow it up to read near the head tube.

Right you are..I didn't see that..just went by the color scheme. Even a Nevada City at $160 is a pretty reasonable deal..good commuter..etc..

520 tubing, steel fork, Sora groupset, ~23lbs

Since you brought it up, this is something I've been thinking about recently that I could use some clarification on. Was there any difference in the early Cannondale model's frames or did the higher end models just have better components and all of the road frames were the same (maybe different paint as well)? It looks that way to me and the way the catalog references them seems to suggest so but I can't find much definitively one way or the other.

In 1987, Cannondale had a Criterium frame, and "Standard Racing Frame", and each had slightly different geometry.

But in 1988, all the non-touring road frames had the Crit geometry:
