I know! I saw a local CL ad for a bike in which the seller was asking $2500. The pics were poor, and the bike was greasy and filthy. You would think that anyone looking to catch a $2500 fish would at least make the bait more appealing.

Competition GS
The #2 bike in Raleigh's lineup that year. Reynolds 531 frame and fork. Lots of original Campagnolo components including derailleurs, crankset, wheel hubs, forged dropouts, steering and bottom bearings and seatpost. Very nice Weinmann concave 700c wheels. Brooks leather saddle. The epitome of a 1970's english racer.
Frame size is 23 1/2", so medium to large. This bike is mostly original, with the exception of a wider handlebar (very comfy) and newer leather-like tape. Paint and graphics are original with some battle scars and touchups, but still very presentable and very cool. It has been ridden, and gets ridden still. The ride on these bikes is legendary, and this one does not disappoint. Mechanically excellent, needs nothing, ready to ride and enjoy.

Here is a cool one, from up here in Vermont. Pretty well-priced at $750, even without the one-of-a-kind backstory:
In 2000, my son worked for Raleigh America in Kent, Washington, USA. He built this bike especially for me, so his description follows.
“A friend and contact at one of our dealers represented Bob Jackson Cycles (Leeds, UK) in the USA.
At the time, Raleigh America had recently introduced the Modo collection of three Italian-inspired, Taiwanese-made models, TIG-welded with Columbus tubing, and equipped with Campagnolo components under their Univega brand.
My friend Paul thought that Raleigh America should execute a similar idea more authentically, by offering lugged framesets, brazed in England, with Reynolds tubing.
To this end, he arranged with Bob Jackson Cycles to build a small number of framesets (I remember five) as proof of concept. This bike, brazed with Reynolds 531 Competition tubing, was the only one made in the Mixte frame configuration, with twin, dropped top tubes, running from the head tube to the rear dropouts.
The frames with more traditional configurations were distributed to key employees within Raleigh America for their evaluation, but nobody claimed the Mixte frame. Once it became clear that management wasn’t interested in pursuing this concept, I built the Mixte frame into a bike for my mother, as seen here.
Components from Shimano’s Santé group were selected for their high quality and pearl white finish. I refinished the crank arms, as the original paint had rubbed through with use.
One can also see the influence of Rivendell Bicycle Works on the build, with a Willow chainring used to reduce the gearing, adaptors to move the shifters to the bar ends, and a Nitto Dirt Drop stem and Moustache handlebar used to create a higher hand position compared to traditional drop bars.
The 700x28c Michelin clincher tires were selected as the largest volume options which could safely fit under the brake calipers. Their sidewalls have deteriorated over the past twenty years, and should be replaced before riding. A pair of Vittoria Corsa tires in 700x25c, with silver-grey sidewalls to compliment the frame’s color accents, will be included with a purchase at the asking price.
If I remember correctly, the frame is in 54cm size. This would traditionally fit riders between about 5‘6“ to 5‘9“, with inseam lengths between 30“ and 32“.

PDG 70 would have been second from top after the PDG 90. I imagine it got frankenbiked over the years, since that does happen to old MTBs.

"Custom hand-brazed 58cm steel-frame vintage 1958-60 powder-coated fixed-gear track bike in excellent condition. Very light frame that I suspect is Columbus steel tubing. The bike's age is estimated based on the sand-cast Davis fork-crown which was available in 1958-1960. The bike appears (by some frame components) to be Italian and the frame is not marked by any manufacturer or serial number. The bike has Campagnolo head set and fork dropouts. The 1/8-inch drivetrain is a 48 tooth Sugino track crank, sealed bottom-bracket cartridge, and 16-tooth fixed rear-cog. The track wheels are SOMAX with sealed bearings and are in excellent condition. The tires are Vittoria Zaffiro Pro. Seat is FI-Z-IK Arionne. Seat post is UNO. handlebars are NITTO Universiade. Front Brake is Shimano with DiaCompe Gold Finger lever. The handlebar quill stem is Raleigh. The bike is stiff, smooth, very responsive, and fast. Wheel bearings roll smooth and true. The bottom bracket cartridge is a relatively new replacement. Pedals are Shimano clipless SPD. Cranks length is 165mm. The entire drivetrain spins smooth with excellent chainline. The chain has only about 200 miles on it. There are no problems with this one-of-a-kind track bike. As shown in the pictures, the bike is adjusted for me at 6'3". It will accommodate riders who are shorter, perhaps down to 5'10". Don't pass on this unique bike.
