1987 Cannondale Shimano 600sis - $600 (Boston)

A tasteful vintage, yet powerful bike. The bike had quite a peculiar history, where it was donated to a local charity in the central midwest, and then stood on the shelf unused up until 2016. I got it in 2016 and put about a 1000 miles on it. with very occasional riding.

The bike has some cosmetic defects as you can see in pictures, mostly due to paint aging and chipping away. But mechanically it is in a perfect condition - bearings were services and run smooth with no binding, great crank spin test, minimal signs of wear on cogs, no issues with the freewheel, perfect brakes with plenty of pad material left. 52/34 crankset and 6 speed rear freewheel.

It comes with magnesium wheels and S-Works Turbo tires, no bottle cages and nylon pedals.

This is 54' frame size. I'm 6.0/ 32 inseam, and this bikes fits very well. Would only recommend this if you're between 5.11 and 6.2, otherwise it will feel cramped. Some geo numbers.

If you used a service like bikeflights or shipbikes then a shop will often charge $40-$60+ for boxing the bike that the seller drops off, and then sometimes the box is not included in that price, and then the shipping on top of that can run over $100 from coast to coast.

$150 coast to coast is right there.

"Selling my Shogun 300 12-spd Bike, dark red and silver, 1985 Vintage, Tange CroMo Tubing. 23" sport touring frame, 21 3/4" top tube, 33 1/2" standover height. Well made in Japan with lugged Tange CroMo tubing, cast fork crown. Very good original cosmetics with moderate wear (small scratches, no dents) from careful use (This bike was set aside in storage about 1992). Almost all the components are original except for the new 27x1 1/4" tires, bar tape, and the chain. Original Shimano brakes and derailleurs, as well as original alloy quill pedals with Sakae toe clips and leather straps. Original Sakae 52/40 crankset, rear cluster, and wheels (aluminum rims, 36 15 ga. spokes, low flange QR hubs). Original seatpost, leather covered saddle, stem and handlebars. Overall, a comfortable, classic bike, ready to ride.

I just learned something (or maybe not): penny just dropped that these Shoguns have distinctive pin-striping that I recall seeing on some Centurions (not the '80s "splash-graphics" era but the ones that were trying for a more "classic/vintage" look). Is there some Centurion=Shogun connection?
