Do folks generally assume that chainrings will need replacing, when buying a used crankset? Or, try to feel the teeth and see if they're hooked from running a worn out chain?

It depends on your plans for the crank and what your tolerance for wear might be.

Are you planning to reuse consumables (cogs, chain, etc)?

Any bike I plan to load up or push hard will get new rings or some that have lots of life left.

Facebook just suggested that listing to me even though I'm way over in Washington state because for some reason the listing says that it ships for $20. Which seems like BS. But now I'm sad, I've been kind of looking for a Terry, and it looks about my size. It's even green! Don't think I'd want to spend $200 on something sight unseen from facebook of all places though.

A Ferrari Red '85 Stelvio, Columbus Alle R frame/fork with Triomphe Derailleurs and the usual mix of a Omega crank, Modolo Corsa Brakes, Ofmega hubs, ITM bar/stem, TTT post and Mavic Mod 2 rims. Not the best but an Italian bike for $150. Too bad it isn't my size.

Do you think that there are enough similarities to actually be a Sparrow...probably disguised for security, maybe...

This pair of 'his and hers' Univega MTBs look like a decent deal. Probably STX with Deore LX RD? Plus their MAX inspired BiAxial Power Oval frame too. $250 for the pair! Too bad they in North Las Vegas.
