I bought this Carlton built Competition from the original owner last year. Downsizing my collection.
54cm seat tube. 56cm top tube.
531 Reynolds tubing.
Original Campagnolo shifters, derailleurs, crankset, bottom bracket, headset, handlebars & stem, brake hoods, saddle & post. New Kool-Stop brake pads and cables. Tires have about 20 miles on them. They’re surprisingly supple, made for various terrain from asphalt to cobblestone. Velo Orange fenders. Brakes are Universal centerpulls. Levers are mismatched brands. One is the original Weinmann the other Dia-Compe. 700c Weinmann rims laced to Suntour Sprint hubs. Suntour Winner 6-speed cassette.
Bike rides great.
1979 Raleigh Competition G.S. - $300

Bob Jackson 57cm frame/fork/headset, Diamond Jubilee, Reynolds 753, $200. Based on the detailed description, I'd guess the seller is a straight-shooter. Craigs-Listed in Bike Parts, not Bikes.

That bike was $100, then I think $60 now $20. Owner must be desperate to dump it

Okay, so here are two from Phoenix, AZ. Both are north of a grand, but I can imagine rationalizations...
First, an absolutely pristine Raleigh Competition GS for the taller rider. Overpriced? Sure. NOS? Damn close. (Also I just spent thirty bucks on the gold foil decal alone, so there's that.)

Second is a truly epic "Hey, have you been looking for one of these?" Because if a 19th-Century Stoker-Steerable Tandem somehow made your grail list, well, FOUND IT.
