People like this tick me off "it's an antique/collector's item...get it before I throw it in the trash!" Grrr. Anyway, I've never seen a Phillips road bike--someone needs to rescue this.

Maybe I missed it but what year does C&V consider a bike not to be C&V?

I personally consider anything 80's or earlier to be C&V. Early 90's becomes a maybe, but later than that is a no. Although, certain considerations are made for new steel bikes that emulate C&V.

+1. A brand new, steel Waterford or the like would fit in nicely here.

Old Bianchi for sale. I bought in 1982 for $550. Still in good riding shape and tires are good. Could use a tune up and handle bar tape. Campanello rear derailer.
tires need more air and I can't find my pump...if you come to look...please bring tire pump.

Kidding about being mad, or kidding about the thread existing? I'd be interested to read such a thread, but I can't seem to think of a proper phrasing to find it.

Something else that struck me...excepting mixtes, female frames, and funny bikes (maybe a few others), a sloping top tube on a road bike seems to indicate that it is not C&V. I wonder when that rose in popularity...

Yes it is, and probably stiffer than all get out.

A great way to get into cat/criterium racing.

Buy a frame on the cheap, throw together a solid gruppo, toss on the wheels, and start crashing!

Hey wait, that's how I started.

This may be the nicest bike you see on Craigslist this Summer. 1985 Fuji Series V, top of the line touring bike. The bike is what Fuji calls a 58cm. They measured from center of bottom bracket to top of seat tube. The center to center measurement is 57 cm, standover height is ~ 33.5 inches.

Complete braze-ons, including front/rear rack, three water bottles, front/rear fenders. Includes original pump and water bottle. Upgraded Strong seatpost and Brooks Professional saddle (with rarer hammered rivets), and Biopace chainrings, completely stock otherwise. Totally restored/rebuilt, with new cables, repacked bearings and every nut and bolt hand polished.

The bike is available as long as the ad is posted, and can be seen most days between 9AM and 9PM. I'm in the Golfside/Ellsworth area. Feel free to email with questions or if you need more pictures.

I have many other bikes available, ranging from grocery getters, old Schwinn 3&5 speeds, English 3 speeds, all the way to high end Italian racers, e-mail me, I might have what you are looking for.

I will give any regular C&V member a heck of a deal on this, shipped. PM me.

Thanks for outing, Bob, how's the Cinelli coming?
