I would imagine if you buy the pump and bottle for $645 he will throw in a nice Fuji bike

Thanks for outing, Bob, how's the Cinelli coming?
Someone should take OFG up on this, he is a great guy to deal with. If I needed a touring rig I would be all over it.

Agreed. That bike looks like new and is heck of a bargain compared to other touring rigs out there.

I'm still sizing up the whole rust removal issue (easy in some areas, darnright difficult in others). Cottered cranks and everything are coming apart nicely.

HOWEVER. I unlaced the front wheel last night (in several rotations) and the rim became somewhat taco'd. Not sure what I did wrong (if anything). I'm a bit crushed, as I'd guess I'm now going to have to source a replacecment rim (or rimset), which won't be easy. NUTS!

Other than that, I'm thrilled with how it's coming along. It's in much better shape than it looked.

Thanks again!

Bob, Those rims were nothing special, don't fret it. I ran across a guy with a decent set of Fiamme tubulars, if you are interested. I'm sure they would be inexpensive, though about 10-15 years newer than those on the Cinelli.

Thanks. I'd be very happy with tubs, but the original wheels are 27", and there isn't any room to drop the brake pads in the rear. So, I'm stuck with 27"

For you Fuji enthusiasts, I can sell the bike shipped, with the bottle and pump for my asking price on local CL. It may take two boxes, but I'm willing to do that.

This weekend the U of M students return and the bike will be gone to a wealthy grad student from one of the coasts. If they can afford the $50k+ tuition, they can afford a bike like this, and it's cheap at twice the price.

An $80 Bianchi?
https://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/bik/1895481107.html

I bought a bike from this guy a few months back (a 1953 Rudge). Seemed like a nice guy; he's in the Fenway, in a very student-y area. I kind of figured hat he sells bikes that have been abandoned by students, thrown out by supers, etc. since most of the bikes he sells are pretty modest.

+1

I will say this again.

Go look up the price of a Surly LHT.

Realize then this a deal, call this nice man up, and buy his bike.

This is an ideal light tourer or a commuter.

Wow, there are enough Turkey wings there to feed an army of Dutch Reformed. Looks like maybe 4 or so better bikes in the bunch, not worth a trip across the state for me.

I don't know much about these peugeot's, but this could potentially be a good pickup if it's in nice shape and if the seller is negotiable.

Is that a reasonable price? Assuming it is in decent shape.

Assuming decent condition, VERY reasonable. Fly it up the flag pole in the appraisals section and see what kind of responses you get. Were it my size, I'd be asking if you could ship.

I would honestly not waste too much time negotaiting...judging from his description, he knows what he has and I suspect he will have multiple offers. I know others on this site disagree with me, but when something is very under valued, I rarely negotiate. I might pay $20 more than I need to here and there, but I also don't run the risk of losing to another interested party. This is under valued...how much depends on condition.

It's been up for weeks. The seller regularly has items listed at what I consider optimistic prices. The NYC area has plenty of knowledgeable collector's, so either this isn't what it's advertised to be, something is wrong with it, or the seller is difficult to deal with.

If that's been up for a while, something is wrong. A PX-10 at that price wouldn;t last a day here.

Price is very reasonable, rare size. I haven't seen such complete bike in a long time. It must be smth wrong or as you said a meathead case. Any chance somebody can look at it? I shot an email, no response yet.

Looking to race the track on a vintage steel stead? Here's a fairly spendy Merckx frameset that could take the abuse.
==================================================
Eddy Merckx Pista Frameset 54cm (Portland)

This is a 89/90' Eddy Merckx Pista, folks. Its been raced, hung on a wall for 10 years, then raced one more season. Columbus SL tubing, campagnolo track/fork ends. NO dings/dents, straight, never been crashed. Paint was done by spectrum cycles, decals are from the factory. NOT drilled for brakes. The frames paint/chrome is near perfect. The fork has a little chrome loss. overall a real stunner, what else is there to say. $1000 for frameset with campagnolo c-rec pista headset and Campagnolo SR pista BB! Somebody should be racing on this thing! Contact me by email with phone #.

At Witts bike shop (their contact info is a few posts back) they are closing at the end of the week for good due to retirement. Also in the store 3 of the Clarence Witt's own hand made bikes (he used to build frames) and a Tandem frame still in the raw. I have no affiliation, I just like the Witt's I apologize in advance for the cellphone picture quality.
Sugino Grand Compe brake set with levers, cables and calipers NOS they are asking 95.00

NOS complete Gieppiemme groupo they are asking 400.00

I paid a visit to Witt's today. I bought a few odds and ends, but they are pretty cleaned out, except some of the sets toytech posted, and other small bits. I primarily went to see about tools, but Barbara was very adamant that they were not for sale.

The Witt bikes were very pretty, but at over $2000 each I'm gonna pass.

There was only one person in there except for the owner, so maybe. If you were the big guy buying bits and pieces, yeah. We talked about that broken Bianchi.

I really wanted that clock.
