Turns out I have one too many bikes so the Miyata needs to go. Miyata 512 Competition Road Bike that has been sitting covered in the garage for the past 3 years. The frame is in good condition but the gearing and brakes could use a tune-up. Needs new tires as well. I'm not sure of the exact frame size, but I'm 6'2 and it was just a tad bit small for me.

Circa 1977/78 Austro Daimler Vent Noir for sale. The bike is NOS and has never even been test ridden (these bikes came virtually completely assembled from the factory and were shipped in custom padded containers). It was originally owned by someone who worked as a consultant to AD in the 70's on marketing and brochures. It is very nicely made of silver-brazed Reynolds 531 butted steel tubing and features wonderful hand-painted lug lining and pinstriping. The components are Dura-Ace Black, with the exception of the rear Crane derailleur (the predecessor of DA rear derailleurs) and a really nice first generation factory fluted/painted Campagnolo Super Record seatpost. The wheels are gorgeous Fiamme Red Labels in gold, though the original Clement tires are shot. The bike is in virtually immaculate condition, but has a couple scrapes on the ends of the drive side chainstays (as shown in one of the pics), and has a very small spot of residue on the otherwise pristine saddle which might be able to be cleaned up. The bike is basically a medium size, with a 53cm (center to top) seat tube and almost a 31" standover height, but has a relatively long top tube (almost 57cm). Austro Daimler had some kind of strange proportions in their earlier days, but as this bike is quite likely the only bike of its type extant, it's probably destined for a collector rather than for a daily rider. Asking $1,175.

It features cantilever brakes on the front and back as well as a rear drum brake. The canti brakes allow for slightly larger tires to smooth out the ride. The add-ons that come with the bike include the multiple bottle cages as well as the rack. This could accommodate a child's seat to make this a school bus of a bike. It also has bar end friction shifters, dependable shifting systems of the time.
I haven't actually measured the bike's size but assume it is a medium captain and either a medium or small stoker. The handlebars are rotated in the pictures to allow for hanging it on wall hooks. The chain is rusty only because I have not kept with the upkeep.
As stated, I am really bummed to put this up for sale but I honestly can't get to it. I wanted to Chris King everything but felt putting money into other bikes made more sense. I love tandems, but this needs to get under two riders who also enjoy a double bike.
Since I cannot transport it, potential buyers will have to meet me near my location. Please no trades, and serious inquiries only.
