It has provided me many years of riding enjoyment. I continue to ride it occasionally, and the only reason I'm selling it is because I have too many bikes! Overall the finish is quite nice, but there is some chipped paint and surface rust. It's in very good working condition, rides smoothly, and balances perfectly.
Over the years, nearly all components have been replaced and upgraded. It comes with with Cateye Astrale 9-function bike computer, Shimano SPD-R pedals, and the companion SPD-R shoe cleats (new, in-the-box). Pedals could be easily switched, though.

Most Kabuki's I see have stem shifters. I had one like this and it was quite nice, with paint having survived well and having downtube shifters

Possibly the bargain of the day? Not sure about duct tape on seat tube, but yes, based on maker, I'd expect it to be "really light"

xiaoman1 Ben, I agree there is a lot to like in that photo!
Ignoring the outliers ("Gee, it's a Bianchi so it must be worth a $1,000!!" or "It's an old bike, who'd want and old bike?") I think that either we are seeing the traditional summers ending slump in prices or perhaps, pricing is finally leaving the Covid highs. It'll be interesting to see what transpires this fall. Presumably there will still be that short "kids off to college" bump in pricing but if Biden opens the border to Canadians I may well be getting that inexpensive old school touring bike I want......

Calling Out A Different Tune
Raleigh International Bicycle - $50
Posted 2021-07-29 13:59
"I am the original owner of this bicycle. I don't think I've ridden it in the last 10 years. I had new tires / rims put on it about 10 years ago (best estimate). It has been in my garage on a bicycle rack mounted to the wall. Hoping someone would enjoy riding it. I don't remember the frame size (one of the pictures has a yardstick next to it). I believe the derailleur and crankset is Campagnolo. It could use a good cleaning (has some dust from sitting so long in the garage).
bicycle frame material: aluminum
bicycle type: road
frame size: Adult, see pictures
make / manufacturer: Raleigh
wheel size: 27 in"
https://raleigh.craigslist.org/bik/d...358058335.html
I live about 10 miles away from this bike, and spotted it on Craigslist today around 4pm - 2 hours after it was posted. It's my size and definitely in my price range, so I sent the owner an email...and an hour later made arrangements with him to pick it up in the morning.
Can't believe wasn't already gone. Stay tuned.

Vintage 1974 Raleigh International - $500 (Fuquay Varina)
Posted 2021-08-15 18:33
"Here’s my 1974 Raleigh International that I recently bought with hopes of restoring to share riding time with my other vintage bike: a ’73 Gitane Tour de France. Alas, she’s is just a tad too large for me to comfortably ride.
At first I considered partially restoring her (it’s fun), but believing the next owner will want that opportunity I’m leaving her be while I find her a new home.
I did clean up the forks with a light coating of chrome polish, and I also spot-cleaned chrome on the seat stays for a “before and after” comparison. I didn’t touch the paint, or anything else…not even the ancient water bottle cage, which I was dying to remove.
She sports chartreuse paint, a full Reynolds 531 butted 23.5” frame with chrome Nervex Professional lugs, has a 33.5” stand-over height, and wears serial# WB4005496, indicating a February, 1974 build date at Raleigh’s famouse “Worksop” facility in England.
With full Campagnolo Nuovo Record components, except Weinman 999 centerpull brakes which came standard, she also has two buyer-specified changes/options: the original Campagnolo bottom bracket was upgraded to a Phil Wood (cartridge bearing) one, and the Campy down tube shifters were swapped out for Shimano L-600 Fingertip Bar End controls.
The original owner indicated that at some point the original tubular (sew-up) tires/rims were replaced with 27” Sun CR16II clincher rims and stainless, double butted spokes laced to the original Nuovo Record hubs. He also stated that after her last servicing, she was very lightly ridden a few times, and has since been stored on garage hooks for more than 10 years collecting a dusty (but not rusty) film.
Though she should be serviced and lubed, and could use new brake cables/housing, everything works: she shifts smoothly, brakes smoothly, her rims are remarkably true, and all bearings (hubs, bottom bracket, headset) operate flawlessly. Even the slightly aged Continental Super Sport tires are safely ride-able, according to my mechanic. Not to mention the Brooks Professional saddle that’s also original, quite firm, and has never been tensioned.
I won’t return responses without a phone number, so if she’s your cup of tea, please leave me your number and I’ll call you as soon as I can.
And thanks for looking!
