Either it's bent out, or just an optical illusion.

Miyata 721

though 1993 might be a bit recent to be considered vintage... I noticed this listing the other day.

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=320584432399

I know little about this model but am tempted to go take a look at it since it's not far. I guess it's a mid-range miyata? one problem though is that from the photos (which for the most part are taken from above the bicycle so it's hard to tell) it looks like a 56cm frame to me rather than the 58cm stated by the seller, which is a shame because I am looking for a 58cm. I hope I'm wrong.

Definitely not a 58. Looks more like a 54-55 to me, but as you say, the angle might have something to do with that.

Perhaps I'm picky, but when looking at a bike from more than 100 miles away, I just don't want the chain to scream "I've been abused"

I have an early 1970's Peugeot PX-10 with Reynolds 531 double butted tubing. My father bought the bike new and I've had it since the late 70s. The frame is 25"/64cm so it's big. It's in pretty good shape and is ride ready. The following is an equipment list:
Stronglight 99 crank
Stronglight headset
Brooks saddle
Dura-Ace brakes
Suntour Cyclone derailleurs
Zeus (campy knock off) hubs, Robergel SS spokes, super champion rims (27")
TTT handlebars

Long time no sell I have no time to check it out, but set of parts turns me off too (looks legit PX-10). Price stayed the same for the whole summer. Not to eager to sell probably. Might be my size, but not my price

https://providence.craigslist.org/bik/1937204533.html

Jay Downing built frames in Providence, R.I. from the early 1970s to about mid-80s. He built from his home shop and in late '82 started his own bike shop. The frames he built were mostly of touring/sport touring geometry and as far as I know only built two with road race geometry. The bike in the ad is not mine. Mine was the first he built with race geometry in 1980, a custom build with Tange No.2 tubing, Cinelli lugs, Campagnolo dropouts. I still ride and love mine and it's my only go-fast bike. If the frame size fits you, I think this bike on CL is a very good deal. I do not know any other details about the CL bike, but Jay Downing usually stamped the build number and year on the bottom bracket and fork crown. Please feel free to pm me if I can facilitate the sale as it would be wonderful to see this bike go to a good home.
