I rescued this bike from going to the junk yard, found with a missing cantilever braze on which was subsequently professionally repaired by Toby Stanton.

Bike has some nicks and superficial rust (leaving a re-paint to the next owner) however it is now cleaned and now complete.

It has the following original equipment: Ritchey Force Comp stem and handlebars, original wheelset with Shimano 600 Ultegra front hub, Deore XT Rear hub and Ritchey Logic Rims (tires are not original though in good shape), Shimano Deore DX headset, Shimano Deore XT derailleurs, Shimano XT Top Mount shifters, Ritchey Logic brake levers, Ritchey Logic Crank and Shimano XT M737 clipless pedals.

Brake set replaced with NOS Dia Compe 987 cantilever brakes. Seat and seatpost are not original however; they are true to original setup with period correct Avocet Racing 1 leather Seat and a Ritchey 300 mm seatpost.

Frame size is 21 inches / 52 cm.

Waterford R33 Road Bike, 61cm, Dura-Ace, Carbon wheels - $1,800 (Sherborn)

Up for sale is a custom Waterford road bike, 61cm, with a well functioning Shimano Dura-Ace 7800 groupset. The R33 was Waterfords premium lighter frameset. Painted to match Reynolds carbon fork.

The bike is painted in a sparkle bass boat blue with a blue Chris King headset. Thomson bar and stem with an Easton EC70 carbon handlebar.
The wheels are Prime carbon 50mm that are only a few years old.
Everything on the bike is running very well and it needs nothing. The chain isn't stretched and the brake pads are good. The Shimano Dura-Ace shifters are crisp and precise.

There are a few heal scuffs on the frame as well as the crank arms, but overall, it is in excellent condition.
The bike measures 61cm from center to top, and 61cm top tube. Standover height of 85,5cm. 17.8 lbs. This is obviously a bike for taller riders.

I would be curious to know your thoughts on the sellers price evaluation on this? I am mildly interested as it is in my size. Bummer about the rust spot on the TT. Also should I expect this is entirely French threaded BB, HS and a Maillard FW with French Threads as well?

I wonder what happened to the one that Rootboy had? I recall a comment several years ago, that his riding days were behind him. I made a preliminary inquiry to buy that gorgeous purple Gitane TDF that he had and was also interested in the Moto. He said that he was not read to sell the Moto and offered me what was a fair price for the Gitane, but I could not buy it at that time, though I do not remember the reason. Perhaps that was when I bought my house and was moving... In all honesty, I ended up forgetting about it and now that is too late. Rest in Peace Rootboy!

Yes, should be all French, is what it is, the absolute epitome of French.

Price is, well the price, I think this is fair if a bit on the high side but we're all a bunch of cheap bastids so....

My view is a bit skewed on this though. I have overpaid for plenty of my bikes, gotten plenty of screamin deals as well and everything in between.

Once I got rollin on this stuff, I stepped up when I found ones like this, when did I last see one this nice and when will I see another, bird in the hand, etc, yada, yada.

The rust spot is par for the course, there is likely more but it looks pretty darn good from here, if you temper your expectations accordingly despite the price you will be better off.

Make it so.

I don't know...these bikes are RARE. It took me six months to find one. That was six or eight months ago and this is the first one I've seen for sale since then. I expect it will be snapped up quickly. And it wasn't $1200, it was $1700.

I'm sure they put plenty of work into it, should have at least painted the canti boss.

Thank you, Yeah I guess other than the one spot doesnt need refurb based on the pics. I may reach out to the seller and ask. Ironic that I just bought that Gitane from a few weeks ago and never thought I would own a French bike in my mostly Italian collection so I still have 2 in the box and a third on the way tomorrow - my hands are very full.

We've all got our own yardstick and mine is a long one, even common bikes can be hard to find in big sizes, bought a lot of 25in., 62cm ones before I figured out how much better bigger ones rode for me, which I hadn't realized since I had been riding and making too small ones work all my life.

38in. true inseam meant I needed 64-66cm so I had already collected most of the bigger common bikes I could find and started zeroing in on bigger.

Also had one made that is actually not that much bigger but was built to work good for now and carry me to the end as well, which it does fantastically.

There's a good chance it has a Regina Oro freewheel. Mine did. Full Campy Record groupset, Sedicolor chain, original Unicanitor seat. I got a good deal on my CT ($1000), but what I have to do/find to put it into this shape will cost me another $1500 before I'm finished.

FREE in MA. One set is by Weyless, famed '70s maker of hubs and seatposts. This is in Ipswich, so take all that money you saved on bike stuff and spend it at the Clam Box.

Wow you must find some great deals then at that size. I am always amazed at the amount of really nice tall bikes I see listed. I am curious to know more about your 3Rensho. When I went to Osaka to race the International Road Race with the US National Team I had been in contact with Yoshi to take the Shinkansen to Tokyo to meet with him for a custom fitted frame. I had been a fan of his work for years. Unfortunately my trip itinerary changed and I was unable to take the time necessary to travel that far to see him and I regret that to this day.

I had Bike Flights ship both of my bikes, one from CA to Dallas and the other from Montreal. They did a great job at a reasonable price. I had the owner drop the bike off at a good bike store in his neighborhood. They had the box, packed the bike well, and I had UPS pick up from their location using Bike Flights as the shipper. You get a good price on the shipping and they have a good staff that can sort out any problems. Good luck!

Trek 760 - fully restored this thing could be pretty killer - $225 feels a lil bit steep but there's an audience for these things. Not exactly flawless condition but nothing too bad either. Minneapolis craigslist.
