Wow you must find some great deals then at that size. I am always amazed at the amount of really nice tall bikes I see listed. I am curious to know more about your 3Rensho. When I went to Osaka to race the International Road Race with the US National Team I had been in contact with Yoshi to take the Shinkansen to Tokyo to meet with him for a custom fitted frame. I had been a fan of his work for years. Unfortunately my trip itinerary changed and I was unable to take the time necessary to travel that far to see him and I regret that to this day.

My 3R Allez is a good example of not cheap. It's a 62 so not really big enough and lots of paint dings, was $500 frame only so not a good deal but a biggish one that is hard to find.

I do also have another actual 3R that was a good deal but is also pretty rough with plenty of crappy parts, it was a lucky snag off efbay for $300 but has a chrome offset crown fork with really bad chrome so that will be $$$$$$ if I make it right.
Sorry you missed your opportunity, that would have been the total business to have had one made for you.

A couple of the Merz's could have been made for me as they fit and ride so well its uncanny.
I did have Dave Levy at Ti Cycles build me a Strawberry that is fantastic, god awful expensive but worth every damn penny.

The old and the new, the ying and the yang, the good, bad and the ugly, you decide.

I had Bike Flights ship both of my bikes, one from CA to Dallas and the other from Montreal. They did a great job at a reasonable price. I had the owner drop the bike off at a good bike store in his neighborhood. They had the box, packed the bike well, and I had UPS pick up from their location using Bike Flights as the shipper. You get a good price on the shipping and they have a good staff that can sort out any problems. Good luck!

Actually no on the really big ones and desirable 25ish ones can be elusive and the good ones are often not cheap. There have been some great, big deals lately but I didn't do any of them, not in the cards. The nice, desirable ones do go fast because they are sparse when you want one usually. I've bought several place holders that do seem to bring a bigger one along sometimes but I have way too many place holders from that program.

$300 still feels like a killer deal on a real 3R! To me they are worth more than whatever the price is because they are 3R's - very special bikes to me. I have used Joe Bell for a few projects with great success but not cheap. He is asking for $350 for a full chrome fork. its super hard to find chromers now in Calif.
I had been traveling all over Osake via the local trains and it was cheap! So I thought the train to Tokyo would be reasonable to meet Yoshi but it wasnt - it was nearly as much as flying and it was much farther than I realized until I arrived in JP. Def in the top 5 of my lifes biggest regrets it didnt happen.
Sounds like you have a few bikes that fit you perfectly so you are lucky you are living the dream of a perfect ride in comfort and style. So far my 2 best fitting bikes are my original Casati perfection top of my list currently for a refurbish post Covid and a KHS Team Carbon Monocoque was the initial prototype production run based on the Look 386 molds was a 980 gram frame with a 350 gram fork was built with Dura Ace 7700. Sadly was hit on that bike days before I was leaving to race in Masters Nationals and woke up in the ICU as a John Doe 2 days later. I survived after 2 years of reconstructive surgeries but the bike didnt make it.......

I have done a few place holders myself and so far have yet to get rid of them.... Oops!

You're absolutely right, all told both 3R's are well worth what they cost which is why I paid, just like the Merz's, didn't hesitate at all, payed dearly for the first two, ended up with his personal bike he built for himself and a fantastic almost completely original one that are worth every penny. Then a frame only, a complete non original rider with a 66cm frame that got me going on the correct size bikes and a too small but cool as heck tweaked MTB that is one of only a dozen or so that he built before he went to Big S.
The last 3 were all reasonable gets so it all evened out in the long run and makes them worth even more being able to secure them all.
Yep, I have several that fit me just fine and several that work well anyway. If we drink enough Kool-Aid, we can justify damn near anything.

Pretty bike for serious money. You'd think that for $100 you'd get pedals and not getting that RD set up like that

Campagnolo Record Derailleur
Stronglight Crankset
Weinmann Brakes
Phil Wood hubs
Brooks leather saddle
700x28 Panaracer tires
Bar end shifters
Ready to ride. Bike is in San Marcos, but I go up to Austin frequently.

Jazzyg72, I may have stepped on your toes. If so, I apologize. After posting the Motobecane Craig's List ad on here yesterday, I re-measured my CT today and found out that it was a 22" also. I'd forgotten that it was an inch less than my Grand Jubilé, but still a comfortable size for me. I talked to the seller today and asked if anyone on the List had contacted him (I had written him that I put his ad on the list last night). He told me that he hadn't seen anything from any of the list members. I didn't think to look back at the list again until just now. I assumed that you'd passed on the bike so before it went to a stranger I went ahead and bought it.
