A vintage retro racing bike. Short wheel base and Reynolds 531 double butted frame
No gimmicks, very simple.
Downtube shifters, 5 gear freewheel, 2 chainring front.
700c rims (I have both 700X26C and 700X28C tires that come with the bike).
Presta valves on the tubes.
Pedals are compatible with SPD cleats.
The following have been changed out or upgraded from original.
Front and rear brakes (Tektro R536)
Rear wheel, hub and freewheel
Rear derailleur (Shimano Tiagra)
Saddle (gel seat, has a tear, but very comfortable for a racing saddle)
Chainring (Campagnolo, upgraded from original 3 arm to 5 arm (stiffer)
Pedals, upraded to cleats
Added a rear rack (Transit)
I´ve ridden this bike from 1981 until a year ago, but I no longer have the desire to go real fast and have permanently switched to my hybrid bike.
I sanded and painted the frame once about 10 years ago, so all the decals are gone.
I am not sure of the frame size (I measured 62 cm). I am 6 foot with a 31 inch inseam and I am just big enough for the bike. Any shorter height or inseam and this bike will not work for you. It would probably be good up to 6-3 or 34 inch inseam depending on how you like your bike to fit.
