Peugeot PX10 - $100 (Eastside Oly)

1980s vintage PX10 has Reynolds 531 frame tubes, forged drop-outs, mostly original parts w/ Stronglight cranks, Mafac brakes, alloy clincher rims. Frame and fork in decent condition, appears straight. Sold as-is will need some tuning and likely rubber. Tall frame fits 6"1+. I'm located on upper eastside Oly near Ralphs Thriftway. Thanks!

Yep. It was pretty absurd. I haven't seen the listing lately, but haven't been looking actively either...!

1983 Raleigh 18 speed touring bike to ride or for parts or repair
$125
Listed 26 minutes ago in Elyria, OH
MessageDetails
  • Condition
    Used – good
  • Material
    Chromoly
  • Bicycle type
    Touring bike
  • Bicycle wheel size
    27 inch
Model: Touring 18. The reason I listed this for parts or repair is because the seat post is stuck. I put on new tires, handlebar foam, cables, housings, and rear brake pads before checking the seat post. Lesson learned. Everything else works as it should and it's also nice cosmetically. It has Shimano Deore shifters and derailleurs, Takagi triple ring crankset, and Dia Compe cantilever brakes. Item located in the Eastern Heights area of Elyria. Cash only on pickup. No holds. Thanks for looking!

Wish I could see the sticker on the fork in more detail. That doesnt look like it would be the original fork to me based on color and lack of "patina"!

That fork decal, crown and integrated HS are all correct for that, fork was probably painted in a different batch than the frame, nasty as it all is, it is a find.

Albeit a lowly one.

@Jazzyg72

I have a very similar one in the basement right now and another later frame with that livery, just about my favorite.

Thanks for the info! Yours is definitely newer! Maybe someday I will find one closer to me. Didnt want to pay shipping and packing on that and I see it is now marked as sold.

The newer one is a resto mod frame I bought that is still languishing after too long, I have 5 altogether.

Here is the sold ones sibling that I have. These have a 70mm BB so the spindle alone could be worth the ask or more.

With the Bianchi colored couch.

Those are cool to be sure but not a hill you really want to die on, gas pipe, stamped RDO's, etc. mine may donate its parts to the nice newer frame but we'll see.

The nasty sold one could not warrant a refurb imo but like mine could be a good donor for the HS, brakes, BB/crank etc.if still usable.

The $$$$$ it would take for that could go a long way on a worthy one once you find it.

I like this. Just the right amount of Patina to show its vintage. Did you successfully remove the cottered crank to service the BB? Do you know the tubing?

It was already done and this is way too small for me, destined to be a donor, etc. I have done many cottered cranks and always savor them for the PITA good time they can be.

The Bianchi is a Rekord 72, an entry level club bike. I bought one used in the mid 1970s. The tubing was not butted and the bike was heavy. Mine was equipped with Campagnolo Valentino derailleurs, Nervar steel cotter crank with alloy rings, Lambertini saddle, Universal Extra brakes, Gnutti hubs and Nisi rims. It also had a celeste color Silca pump, celeste water bottle, Campagnolo pump clip, and Campagnolo cable clips.

I knew it would, sorry about that and while I didn't do it on purpose it was, you know unavoidable.

It would be interesting to know the motivation of ratty one buyer, HS and BB alone can be a big deal and not out of line on the $$$$$ side of that.

Didn't last long even @ $200.

I still have nightmares about being the new mechanic at my first shop and the ole guys would always give me the cottered bikes to overhaul. We stocked every cottered crank tool VAR made at the time and I still thought my head was going to explode to get those arms off. We stocked maybe 7 or 8 sizes of cotter pins and of course none of them would ever be the right size to fit correctly back in!

Im thinking a OA bath for that one might have restored it a bit. Tough to say though.

And speaking of anxiety, couple weeks ago I get a PM about this.

https://bikerecyclery.com/blog/jim-m...g-frame-jm179/

Reach out to Justyne and go have a look, very cool, good shape, another one of Jim's personal bikes he built for himself.

$1400 ask, damn, no pot to pee in. Offer to do trade or partial for 82 Bianchi SL frame, no go. She says "I'll clean it up and put it up for sale in the next couple of weeks". I think it may not last that long if she really has other interest so I took off, sidelined it and flailed around for funding with no real luck.

Finally scrounged up about $400 and thought I might reach out and get her to let me put some kind of a deposit on it.

Then I get a text, the damn thing is on PDX CL for 2 hours at $1200, reach out and tell her I'm in, still without full funding. "It sold 2 minutes ago, sorry"

EF me, Guess I should have figured it out sooner, drug my feet a bit on account of the high ask but will be kicking myself for a long time.
