I agree with JohnDThompson -- I vaguely remember that these were bonded.

Does anyone know who builds these frames? The cutouts on the lugs look nearly identical to the Vanni Losa lug cutouts but I have to refuse to believe that Losa had anything to do with these? Anyway had to ask. TIA

Pricey, but looks like a nice example of a bike you don't see too often. Not too tempted by Treks at this point, but the Columbus tubed bikes always catch my eye.

Trek TX900

Vintage TREK TX900 Road Bike - $1,200

A 1977 Vintage TREK Silver-brazed TX900 24” frameset from Waterloo WI (Serial #J4K7D06). The TX900 was TREK’s the early top-of-the-line road race frame set, dating from 1976 to mid-1978. The Columbus SL Double-Butted tubing, racing geometry, and fastback seat stays were characteristic of this model. Components are Campagnolo Nuovo and Super Record, Cinelli Bar and stem, tubular tires, and Brooks saddle. Also includes Cortina training rollers, spare Weinmann wood core rims, and miscellaneous parts and tools. I personally built, maintained, and raced this classic from 1977 through 1984 and then used it as my cruiser. Asking $1,200 or best offer.

I have read that those Performance frames were made by Biemmezeta. I always thought that they looked good.

I couldn't possibly comment on the authorship of that CL ad that I posted about the other day. I merely shared it here for the enjoyment of this little band.

I must say though that this Aerowind ad lacks the elegant photography, muscular writing style and overall joie de vivre of the one from Chicago.

It looks like a buyer's market for vintage tandems. Not that many people are looking for a single bike with friction barcons or downtube shifters, much less a tandem. You've got to fit the captain and the stoker, and it's cost prohibitive to ship one. We've had our tandem for 36 years, and some day we may see if the LBS will sell it on consignment, otherwise we'll probably end up selling it at a yard sale or giving it away.

LOL!!! I am sure this bike is super popular in the clown community!!! A little shocked as it appears to have corn cob gearing the owner must be a real grinder!

Regarding the Colnago, my guess is the owner modified it as he aged so he could keep riding it. Age takes its toll on the body, so lowering the seat and raising the bars may just have been the owner's solution to that. I think that's cool.

As for the corn cob freewheel, the bike is in Tampa. That's even flatter than where I live. The owner probably hasn't needed to shift gears in years.

The handlebar tape? Maybe his granddaughter's touch during clean up. ;-)

Ignoring the saddle (which does point to a clown bike), probably seller raised the bars to show the stem isn't seized. Seems to be a popular way to photo bikes. Slammed seat makes you wonder about it being loose or....

Agree. Just yesterday I raised my bars again. Not that radically yet. I have a corncob on one bike because I like the look. I can go weeks without shifting gears.
