Original 1974 Mink Blue Raleigh Professional - $1000 (Ashland)

Date: 2010-09-23, 3:59PM EDT
Reply to: sale-gwxed-1969811193@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

This 1974 Vintage Raleigh Professional Mark IV, serial number WM4003016, was the top of the line among Raleigh's production bicycles. The 58cm 531 Reynolds steel butted bike comes stocked with all quality condition Campagnolo Nuovo Record components (both derailleurs, headset, crank, bb, shifters, cable guides and brakes), 3TTT Stem and GB Maes Alloy Engraved bars. The bike does reflect its age with light surface rust in areas, faded Carlton stickers and surface scratches however the chrome and bike are in quality condition. If interested I would be willing to sell just the frame and fork if desired at a price of $500.

Note: the saddle (a new Brook B17) and seatpost are not included with the bike.

Please call my cell 339-222-2401 to arrange a time to see this classic. Thanks.

Decent deal in these parts, if it is anywhere close to ready to ride. Not a good deal if it is beat - but $40 or so for a basket case that is good enough for rehabilitation wouldn't be out of line. Go see it, offer him $40, and see what happens.

The leather "fuji saddle" alone might be worth close to the asking price.

I might be wrong but I think this isn`t a Gran Criterium. The 50th anniversary gruppo however looks really nice.

I've seen better condition and cheaper ($240), but it was gone before I lifted a phone. Or way overpriced as someone already pointed. I believe $500-$700 is a fair price range. If it's your size - go for it! I will stay away
I would agree. Needs to be torn down, cleaned and rebuilt, but would be a nice bike. I always hate seeing racks on Raleigh Pros, but maybe that is just me? Serial number seems incorrect, check Kurt's references (cudak) Also staying away. If I had the money right now, I might be tempted

Did some lucky BF member snag the Raleigh International from Chicago CL yesterday? Looked very nice, $400; sold to the first responder which, sadly, wasn't me. Kudos to the winner.

I am the original owner of this beautiful bike that was purchased in Italy directly from the Pinarello shop in Treviso. Campy Super Record Gruppo. Mavic Rims. Well maintained over the years. Bike hasn't been ridden much in the last 10 years. I've accumulated a lot of bikes over the years and it's time to clear out my old stuff. This bike will fit you if you about 6 feet tall. I have original quill pedals and shift levers if wanted. Price is firm.

An original early '70's Motobecane Grand Touring in good condition. I went to look at it but it turned out to be 22" and I was looking for 23", and early rather than late '70's (and I didn't need it that badly). Honestly, I was expecting it to be a little higher spec'd, as I'm more familiar with the later '70's Moto's; a later Grand Touring would have a double butted Vitus frame like my Grand Jubilι, cotterless crank. Still, plenty of nice parts on that bike, Pivo randonneur bars, Normandy hubs, Rigida alloy rims. Original Weinmann brake hoods are holding up. It has a really neat Nervar cottered crank, Pivo stem. Frame is 1020.
I told the seller to take more pics and put them up on the ad or at least email them to me and I'll post them here.

If anyone is interested I'll be glad to facilitate. Don't quote me, but I think the price is negotiable.

TREK 12 speed model 311, 27 - $125 (Seattle, 98119)

Serial number/ 034726
Model 311
Frame size 22
Date/ 1982

height from pavement to middle bar = 27"
tires/ (28-630) 27 X 1 1/8" to fit K-2 Rim
rims appear good, tires are flat and may/may not be usable

here is a helpful website full of information on vintage TREK bicycles:

RARE ORIGINAL RALEIGH SPORTS 3 SPEED COMMUTER IN LARGE SIZE - $300 (Mesa)

Reply to: sale-dturp-1962783254@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Vintage Raleigh Sports Commuter Bike 3speed hub made in England

Up for sale is a vintage Raleigh Sports 3 speed (in hub) in a rare large size 57cm. This is the classic english commuter cruiser. This bike was made in the early 70s in Nottingham England and is clearly one of the few remaining "good ones". The bike is almost all original including the original Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub and shift sytem, chromes steel wheels, chroem cottered crank, short old school stem, etc. Of course as a commuter it also features its original chain guard and fenders. The original Brooks B72 seat died several years ago and the tires are also more recent replacemts (the tires could use replacing as the gum wall is dry and cracking).
I see dozens of these in small sizes but it took me 2 years to find one in a 57cm (seta tube c-c) that was all original. I have owned the bike for 10 years and, as I restore old bikes for fun, this one has to go to make room for incoming projects.

Overall a great about town vintage bike.
