Haha yep. Posted it at 1pm, got an email saying a guy would buy it sight unseen at 1:45. We talked and I delivered. Sold at 3pm for $10 more than my asking price (he had no change lol), and I kept the good seat I had actually put on it.

I really want to keep riding this winter but it's going to have to be on a trainer/rollers or a free road bike.

Aw helll, I'm probably going to buy another bike or pimp out my bianchi with the money I just got back...we all know it.

Haha, you're right...the price really didn't click. I've not seen a Miyata cruiser before and I thought the rod brakes were interesting from Miyata too. Oh well.

Home Made Hoods

Hi Folks,

My first post to C&V!

Are you looking for replacement vintage lever hoods?

I'm going to try making my own.

I'd love to hear from any one who has made their own, or bought / obtained home made hoods, and what they were like.

I've never done this before. Any advice would be welcome.

I'll buy the materials this week for a weekend adventure in latex!
Oooh, can you feel the rubber?

Classic steel frame. This size is nominally a 51 but it it's not square - the seat tube is ~51cm and the top tube is non-sloping and ~53cm. New 105 everywhere but the crank, which is Dura-Ace from days of yore. I would either update the crank to match everything else or convert to a fixie. New tires, tubes and tape. Ready to ride now.

Great Deal on classic red trek 400 road bike - $250 (Jamaica Plain)

Reply to: sale-9yxuh-1976859227@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

This has been a great bike to me -- I bought it about 2 years ago for $350. It is a 50cm frame, steel, 18 speed. I recently replaced the bike tire, everything is in great working condition, but the pain job is a little chipped. Its a great bike for touring or commuting. Contact me with any questions.

1968 Raleigh Sports Deluxe NOS/ in original box!! Perfection. - $1750 (Clinton Hill, Brooklyn)

Reply to: sale-esvb8-1977533677@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Priceless!

Have you ever ridden a brand new 1968 Raleigh Sports Deluxe Bicycle?

This is truly at least one in a million. The chances of someone finding another BOXED Raleigh Sports of this vintage in such immaculate condition and complete are slim to none! If you love these bikes it simply doesn't get any better than this - this can not be trumped! A MUST have for the Raleigh collector/enthusiast. I have been collecting vintage Raleigh Sports, Superbes, and Lentons for several years now and have never come across one of these:

NEW OLD STOCK 1968 Lovely Ladies Raleigh Sports Deluxe 3 speed Bicycle made in Nottingham, England. This bike has never been assembled and comes in its original box!!! This is an incredibly RARE and exciting find. The bike has a 22" frame. It still has the original twine and foam holding the parts together. The Brooks leather seat is still in its original plastic bag. The original tags are still hanging on the frame. The tires are still in excellent condition. The bike is complete with all the extra options that came standard on this Deluxe model, including the frame pump, carrier bag and original tools. All decals and badges.. perfect. Sturmey Archer 'bullet-proof' internally geared 3 speed hub. All of the parts are in excellent condition. The box has some wear and rips from storage. The paint is a deep, rich & glossy dark green color. There is no damage to the frame.

The Sports Deluxe model was Raleighs top of the line for 3 speeds, and undeniably in a class all it's own internationally. In this condition it's is so rare and basically impossible to find, especially one that’s 42 years old. If you have been looking for the perfect English 3 speed, here it is. If you collect these bikes or just looking for a perfect Raleigh to ride city or country in high style you will want this one. Great bicycle for a man or a woman.

Here are some features/points:

-Made in Nottingham, England in May 1968
-20-30 High Carbon steel lugged tubing
-There is not a spec of rust on the bike, there never was, not even surface rust.
-The paint is beautiful, with a rich green color and a deep, glassy gloss. Absolutely no fading. Gold pin striping throughout.
-All the chrome is bright and beautiful. Every metal screw, nut, bolt, hub, spring and clamp is like new. No stripping or even tool marks! Chromed 'thimble' fork crowns, chrome point on front fender.
-Sturmey Archer Raleigh patterned rims are chrome and like mirrors.
-Bike has original tires and are clearly still very ridable.
-Rear Sturmey Archer 3 speed "bulletproof" hub stamped 68 5 with oil port.
-Front hub stamped ‘Sturmey Archer made in England’.
-Original black rear carrier/saddle bag
-Raleigh 'Made in England' caliper brakes.
-Original Brooks quality leather saddle
-Raleigh’s signature chromed ‘heron’ chainwheel, cranks, and pedals all look like they just came out of the box.. wait, they are in the box!
-original white 'dare' style hand grips
-All decals and emblems are present, crisp and not faded. Raleigh ‘badge of Quality’ on head tube is perfect.
-22" from center of bottom bracket to top of seat tube.
-original Made in England aluminum tire pump on the frame

I must say, every part on this bike is truly in exquisite condition. The ultimate collectable piece of bicycle history perfectly preserved. These bikes were made to last 100 years, so this one still has at least that long. They are very easy to pedal, and have a very comfortable frame geometry, you move fast on these – not clunkers by any means! Anyone can work on these simple and dependable bikes, they’re pretty much indestructible. Such a joy to ride, makes my smile muscles hurt every time!

Unmolested, unassembled, unridden. Not even exposed to light for 42 years. Keep it packaged, or feel the thrill of being the first to assemble and ride a 42 year old Raleigh Sports bicycle as it was right out of the Raleigh factory in Nottingham, England!!!

Please see 14 better pictures of bike on photobucket here: https://s47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0Sports%20NOS/

If interested and serious please contact me, Alex, through this post or call me on my cell at 212-365-0652

First $1750 cash takes this sweet bicycle home.

Thanks and Good Luck!

Sincerely,

Alex

p.s. I also have a Rare Black NOS/Unused 1970 Raleigh Sports 22" Mens(hard size to find in this condition and color!) Unmolested & in absolute showroom condition - every part on this sparkles like new -never used - not ONE scratch on this - hard to believe how perfect - 40 yr old bike! $750
I will post this separately in a day or two with lots of pictures of this incredible bicycle. No exaggeration here - you will see for yourself. I somehow have a knack for finding pristine, unused old Raleighs - I truly have an unbelievable collection - part of which I now need to sell.

I also have a pair of his and hers like new 1967 Raleigh Superbes Complete! They even have the locking fork keys! Green color. In storage since early 70s! They look and ride like new. Front wheel Dyno-hubs and all lights work perfectly. You will not find these better than this. $1,000 each. I'll be posting with pictures soon.

I also have 2 more sparkling Raleigh Sports Deluxe models -hardly ridden - stored for over 35 years - One is a 1970 22" gentlemens - the other a 1972 lovely ladies - both are rich brown in color - complete with carrier bags, pumps, and Brooks leather saddles in immaculate condition. Both have beautiful paint and chrome.. $600 each. I will post an ad with pictures for these soon as well.

All of the bikes I sell from my collection are in extraordinary condition - down to every tiny detail - not at all the $300 dollar variety you see mostly on craigslist and ebay. Must see them to believe.

All smooth, BEAUTIFUL, high quality rides. I love the older Raleigh 3-speeds - they're the only bikes I ride.

all 1st rate classic steel and components.

Time to get rid of some stuff!
I have about 15 built bikes and maybe 5 frames (most are 57 and 58cm) and many components.
Need an Eisentraut? Got That!
I have 3 Zunows, 3 Masi', including a 74 Carlsbad Gran Criterium and one of the Soviet Olympic (not!) 3V Volumetricas (this is my favorite ride and I doubt I'll sell!), a NOS '84 Battaglin that I built up with AX brakes (they are also NOS).
How about a Pogliaghi? Got that to.
Parts... many, many Campy parts including Delta brakes, NIB AX brakes and a bunch of other Dura Ace parts, as well as Suntour components, mostly Superbe Pro
and I even have pretty titanium Mavic rear derailleur. If you need it I may well have it. Seats, seat posts... whatever.
I have many built wheel sets as well, the jewel being NOS Matanos with high flange Record hubs.
I have a bunch of stuff as you can see so if I didn't list it ask and I'll check. I don't even know all the stuff down there.
I really don't want to ship so we have to do this out of Annapolis.
Thanks!

I believe this to be a 1987 Club Fuji in aqua. If so, pretty nice little project bike for that price.

I have a ton of bikes!! all must go.. Keep in mind i am not a wholesaler. These bikes are intended to be sold for collectors. If you want to resell I might be able to help.. "
