Can somebody explain retail value in this ad to me? Is it "what I really want" or "the price paid in 1994"?

I think that $2700 in 1994 is about right for this bike. Those components look like Record but the photos are small and the Century was pretty close to the top, if not the top. TSX tubes are for racing, that is for sure.

I am so tired of people whining and complaining about pricing...if you can't afford something, move on. Don't complain about the seller. There are a lot of things I can't afford, it doesn't mean they should magically get cheaper.

To whoever is selling it:

I hope you get every penny, it's a beauty.

Side note, if anyone is interested in this, I can fascilitate. It turns out that I know the seller and he actually had asked for an evaluation here prior to the sale:

Nishiki Ultimate 56cm frameset - $180 (cc)

Date: 2010-10-07, 11:34AM EDT
Reply to: sale-quvbd-1993669922@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

This is a really awesome frame but I've decided there is no room in the stable for it. $180 OR BEST OFFER for frame/fork/headset. I'll leave the campy downtube shifters on if you want them. The paint job is pretty awesome and in really good shape except for the inside of the right rear drop-out (as shown here) which you may want to put some clear nail polish over. There are some cool skull & crossbones decals which are under the clearcoat as well as a strip of flags on the top tube (also under clearcoat). The "4" decals are on top and could be removed. The top tube is about 56cm center to center and it is about 55cm center of BB to center of top tube. BB shell is english/ISO. Seiki Levin headset is very smooth.

The decals seem to indicate some sort of pro team/rider from the 80's. I haven't been able to find any information on that online but folks more educated than myself agree this is definitely a Nishiki Ultimate. Due to the custom paint and the fact that Nishiki never had the Ultimate in catalogs, it is unknown exactly what year the frame was made. This frame is dying to get some older campagnolo (or Shimano 600) bits if you ask me! I have a ton of pics HERE. Thanks

160$ seems fair for a vintage bike that has had this much stuff done to it. It just looks beautiful too, some chick will love this! Someone in Corvallis should buy it.

Bianchi Trofeo Road Bike 52cm - $400 (Art Museum)

Reply to: sale-etjvf-1995648880@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

For sale is a 1988 bianchi trofeo road bike, the bike is a size 52cm and is in very good condition. This bike is extremely light and fast, a joy to ride. I really wish I could keep it as I will probably never find another like it, but I need the money to pay off a mountain bike I just purchased. The bike as almost all original components, the only parts that have been swapped out are the seat, tires, and pedals. I am asking $400.00 firm and this bike is worth every penny. I am located in chestnut hill but able to meet by the art museum. Thanks for looking!

Nice Old-School Light-weight Road Bike by Centurion -'Master Ironman( Dave Scott) 'Model..19.5" Chro-moly Frame Size w/ 29" Stand Over Height for Shorter Riders - 5' 04"-ish to about 5'08" or so. Standard 700 Road Tires( very good rubber) on Alloy Wheels..Shimano 600 Derailleurs and Downtube Indexing Shifters and Sweet 600 Side/Linear-pull Shimano Hand Brakes..Bottle Cage with Gel Saddle and Gel Cover, Toe Clips..Cleaned/Tuned and Ready to Ride..$185 or B/O

Delivery Options to Newton Highlands Greenline "T" or Needham Junction Commuter Rail Stops.

Guy is a dick, insists on selling an un-worked yard sale find for too much money. Giant dent on downtube, and insists that "some broad" is going to love it and buy it. Did not point out the dent to me, and said he was being "honest" about the bike. Buyer beware. PS: Isn't willing to sell the bikes for parts either.

For sale: Classic Miyata Pro Racing bike - Bright Red and Yellow

Miyata no longer exports bikes to the US. This one is collectible as well as a great ride!

*Miyata's own triple butted tubing
*Shimano 600 Bottom Bracket, rear shifter, and brakes
*Campagnolo Record Hubs
*Cinelli headset and handlebars (wide)
*Aero clincher type rims

This bike is vintage circa 1985 and has been in storage since 1992. Needs some cleaning and a bit of TLC to put it in racing form, but this bike is prime. You'll have a great racer for low investment a some elbow grease!

Parts - Bikes - Parts and Bikes For Sale! Bucktown / Wicker Park , Chicago

From years of working on, selling and collecting bikes, I have a ton of bike parts that I would need to sell off.

I am really looking for someone to take the entire Lot, anyone ready to step up?

Chances are that will not happen so I am willing to open my doors for you to come and pick through.

Most everything is of 80's/90's vintage. Some wheels and other parts from the 00's, but not a lot. Mountain Bike parts from the '00's.

Today being Friday 10/8 and Sunday 10/10 I will work from appointments. Email with a PHONE NUMBER and I will get right back to you.

Saturday 10/09 I will open for anyone to stop in from 11am - 7pm - Please email for an address.

If you are looking only for something in particular, feel free to ask and I'll let you know if I have it.

No Walmart/Kmart/Target stuff.

NO 80's Collectable or Desirable BMX or 24inch Stuff.

NO 27inch Wheels.

TONS of Wheels!!! But NO 27inch Wheels.

TONS of ROAD DROP HANDLEBARS!!

NO TRACK FRAMES - NO MODERN ALUMINUM ROAD FRAMES

AGAIN NO 80's Collectable or Desirable BMX or 24inch Stuff.

No 10 speed Modern parts.

Prices will be very reasonable, but please do not expect Campagnolo - Dura Ace or other Hard to find items to be $5 or $10 bucks.

Thanks and Safe Riding!
