RALEIGH COMPETITION G.S. - $250 (St. Clair Shores)

Up for sale is a vintage Raleigh Competition G.S. in very good condition. This bike was third in line in the Raleigh model line up for 1979. The frame is full Reynolds 531 tubing with Campagnolo dropouts and was made in the Carlton
Workshop in England. The G.S. is equipped with Campagnolo Gran Sport components. The wheels, hubs, crankset
and headset are all original. Upgraded Cinelli bars and stem and has new gel bar tape. The brakes are Dia-Compe
Gran Compe. Original Pearl Silver paint in good condition as well as the decals. The frame size is 23.5 inches and
has a standover height of 33 inches.

A blast for past as one of these was my first "serious" purchase for a new bike, but being a callow youth I bought the flashy green frame too big and eventually traded back, and down, for a root beer brown Semi-Pro. Not as nice but the clincher certainly were more practical as those tubular tires flatted too often for my budget!
By the graphics style this looks to be quite early (1971-ish?) And has the "silk" round tube fork blades, a stylish frame for it's time, reputedly made with what became Tange Champion #1.
I might have been tempted but Fresno is too long and too hot a drive away, so saved from another n+x purchase!

Wifey doesn't mind... It gets me out of the house, and out of her hair (What a dumb phrase!), and she's too short to bump her head on it. But of course, I'm not. Will have to watch that...
