Its an apples and oranges thing for me with the newer ones, the classic era ended around 79-80 as the design and production was moved out of the factory.
Pretty much when the Nervex lugs were dropped, I drew the line.
There were still plenty of cool ones after that and many were arguably better made but they are mostly lost on me.

1980 Mercian "King of Mercia" 51cm frame. This is a full Reynolds 531 double butted frame - main tubes, stays and fork. Beautiful lug work with custom cut heart shapes. There are braze-ons for a down tube waterbottle, otherwise no others, so a nice candidate for a single speed or fixie. The color is maroon with contrasting gold bands. The paint is in very good shape, some wear to the seat tube 531 decal. There are no dents. Just a really nice vintage frame.
This bike has been the pride of my collection, it is very comfortable ride with the unmatched feel of 531 steel. Frame includes a Gipiemme headset.
I will leave the frame built up for your road test. If you are interested in the bike as is or any of the compnents, they are negotiable.
