From Waterford bikes: determine the manufacture year
"Capacity Added for the Boom Years
  • Month Code: This one letter code corresponds to the month with A=January, B=Febuary and so on. Because I is not used, September=J and December=M.
  • Year Code: This two digit code is the last two digits of the year – 86 is 1986.
  • Sequence Number: This two digit number represents the nth frame and/or fork scheduled during the month. During the peak of the bike boom, Schwinn would add another digit, sometimes producing as many as 500 frames a month.
For example, H7634 is the thirty-fourth frame or fork scheduled during August of 1976."
Serial number format is correct. Two holes in head tube looks correct. I don’t see any ‘red flags’. Goofy build though….mix n match everything.

5 number just means they built more than 99 that month. K = October 72=1972 383=383’rd frame built that month

Another sign I need to quit my job

This seller has a Rodriguez tandem for $850 but also had (my size) Look Kg96 with C Record and Delta brakes for $350 and an Merckx Pro with Campy Super Record for $450. I emailed him right away but had to work and they were sold before I could get to them.

As a (retired) software engineer, I find it weird that they didn't anticipate building more than 100 frames (99?) in a month. As miamijim noted, they simply built too many frames that month.

Had my eye on this one for awhile. Don't see the larger frame size too often. Wouldn't mind if somebody else got it.

Raleigh Reg

1953 Raleigh Lenton Sports Reynolds 531 - $380

1953 Raleigh Lenton Sports

Reg Harris "Road Model"

Reynolds 531 Frame with fancy window lugging hand made in Nottingham

Very original condition

Highly desirable gents largest frame of the 2 sizes offered
(actual measurement from center of crank to top of top tube is 22 3/4 inch )

One lifelong original owner rode and lovingly kept this bike up 70 years.
Been stored in climate controlled indoors since.

Sturmey Archer AW hub stamped (19) 52
Caliper rear brake not coaster.
26 x 1 1/4 Dunlap rims

Irredescent Green Color , hand lined white stripe
Originally equipped with white Bluemels Mudguards, these fenders yellowed over time and the took on a
vintage "Green Bay Packers " color scheme ,
The remnants of the damaged fenders are available. (Serious restorationist have repaired / repeiced damaged celluloid bluemels of this typ if you would like to try )

Brake handing is Continental ( ie rear brake is operated by the left hand )

Great opportunity whether you are vintage bike collector, or lightweight Raleigh enthusiast, or simply just want to ride a classic as your daily rider.

Ride today condition:

-Shifts through all gears
-Brakes work
-Tires hold air well
-Seat post , stem and pedal threads move as they should.
- Pedals spin freely , however *, left pedal spindle is not straight: I can include a suitable set of vintage pedals if buyer wants
-Spoke tension is remarkably tight for age. wheels are very nearly completely true, certainly within 2 mm

Will sparkle will some degreasing and careful cleaning.

@Bianchigirll?

Thats beautiful but a bit spendy. I’d like the Buena Vista from Soma a lot better at $600, at least last I looked. Oh it’s up to $900 now also. https://www.somafabshop.com/shop/som...=990#attr=3752

Eddy Merckx - $1000 - LA, CA
https://losangeles.craigslist.org/la...534812975.html
"this is a rare Eddy Mercks team frame from 1985. serial number Z-275. Paint has some chips but and good condition. All the drop outs and bearings are in good shape and nothing has been modified. steel frame is solid and ready to be ridden or restored to its original glory.
I have a little information on the bike frame here, this page talks about teams that used Mercks frames and you can see a picture of it new near the bottom. let me know if you want any other information or photographs.
I can work on the price but would like to sell it for 1000 to a good owner.
team colors ~ tears for gears
Thanks for lookin!"

If anyone picks up this bike and wants to send me that Baktiari as a finders fee I won't object

Yep, real deal, ifn I was you, I'd snatch it up and make sure its too big, a little big can be sublime once you get onboard with it.

You should have pounced immediately when you saw it.
