I will let you who know better evaluate the sellers claims:
Medici - $1,200 - Huntington Beach, CA
"Definitely one of a kind machine! Literally! This bike was built custom (1/1, check out the stamped BB!!) for gold medal Olympic cyclist Mark “Meathead” Whitehead to train for the 1984 Olympics. Super light weight 58cm steel frame with Campy cranks & other top of the line components (95% original, quality parts). I paid $900 for it a few months ago & have put $500+ in tuneups & components to make the bike street rideable (it came with the original 7 tooth cog Meathead used on the track back in the 80’s!) I’ve gotten $1000+ offers for JUST the frame so I’m pretty firm on the price. I have other bikes I ride, the Medici was more of a project for me & I’m moving so I need to lighten my load. Even though I’ve ridden it less than 5 times, I’m sad to see it go but whoever grabs this piece of history won’t be disappointed. Message me if you have questions regarding measurements or any upgrades I made! Happy to help! Thanks!"

Looks like a 23" ladies" Sports, a tall Atala (with a bent fork, maybe?) and a Sprite for $25 each in NY.

No dents no dings, no decals glue remains for identification. At sometime it was misshaped and the derailleur hanger is lobed some, I didn't realized when I bought but it did stop me from enjoying the build and ride.

This frame rides great it's just a little big for me.

Has to be a $100 here. I see two Schwinn Approved long cages (Shimano GT500??), a Simplex and a Huret RD, looks like an upside down Campagnolo FD and possibly a Delrin on in the top shelf., any guesses on the others...

Serotta Ottrott - $500 - Redondo Beach, CA
https://losangeles.craigslist.org/ws...538694022.html
Tall bike, not close to fitting me, but seriously tempted at that price! Someone go buy this thing! ebay sold listings $1,500-2,900 even for just frame, smokin' deal!
Message I got from the seller - "in regards to lack of Decals: Did not remove any decals. I ordered the bike to be very clean and the Serotta branding is very subtlety integrated into the finish. Color of the carbon tubes is a very dark burgundy which quietly reveals the carbon fiber pattern …looks incredible in the sunlight, almost black in low light. I am 6’6” hence the size and geometry of the bike. Gorgeous and ready to go."

You can stay off the app by going to their website, signing up with any email, and contacting the seller through the online portal. I've checked out a few local bikes that way. Beware that their search function is ... primitive.

I've purchased several bikes from Offerup. Direct meet up and cash exchange, like Craigslist. If you know what you're buying then it should be no problem.

[QUOTE=brixxton;22660348]
I have bought numerous bikes from offerup with no issues. I also don't have very high expectation of sellers, I figure it is mostly on me to glean the info the best I can. I don't think the sales platform matters too much? I have had very similar experiences with Offerup and Craigslist sellers, it is mostly just best guessing from pictures, messages with sellers and the neighborhood that tells me what I am getting into. The one advantage to Offerup (I don't take advantage of enough) is people almost expect you to make a lower offer. Based on the pictures and the sellers other ads for random stuff, you could probably make a (maybe much lower) offer. Based on the map given this should be a decent neighborhood, but sometimes address given for meet-up does not match up? I always take a look at the area on google if I have any concerns. The one other thing I always do on Offerup is after I make an "Offer" I send a "Ask" with "Serious buyer, Cash in hand, Show up on time", this can help when it is a "hot" item. I have had a few people tell me my message stood out from the pack because of this. hope that helps

[QUOTE=mhespenheide;22660360]Important detail! I don't use the app! I only access on my computer. One more important, you can buy from a computer with no app, but you can not sell.

I posted it because of the derailleurs!
Go up a bit and see the box of derailleurs for $100. They might be worth it as you could offer to buy just the derailleurs and hopefully pay a bit less than $100 (+ less shipping as less weight) and then sell the ones you don't want/need. I suspect you could get most of your cash back and still keep a few.....
