Nothing wrong with Shimano Ultegra,it is very reliable,less expensive and weights less than Campagnolo Chorus or Athena.

for goodness sakes -- don't fiddle faddle on here -- if you're within a half day's drive go NOW and buy them both -- these are absurdly cheap -- the saddles alone are almost worth the ask. If the bigger one does not fit you will not lose $$

"1974-5 Gitane Tour de France Road Bike that is in great condition. The bike is mostly original except for the seat and front derailleur. The brake and derailleur cables were replaced when the front derailleur was replaced in 1993.
Other items included with the bike: unused spare tire, original Velox tire repair kit, some of the original Mafac brake wrenches that came with it in 1975.

Not original factory shipped components, depending on the year it came with either Suntour Superbe or Sprint, this bike has unknown model of some Campy stuff, some Shimano stuff, and a cheap headset, so probably the components were stripped and sold. The Superbe stuff is far better than the Shimano 600; so, he basically sold the good stuff and then scrouged around in his parts drawer and put on whatever he had. Unless he still has all the original components and wants to include them in the sale price, I wouldn't touch that bike.

According to the FB author, he was selling them on behalf of his dad in advance of a move. Now no longer for sale. Perhaps he got too many interested parties. Maybe they get listed again in the future.

if I were still going after this period Italian bikes this would definitely be on my radar, it's a beauty and my size. That bottom bracket isn't too bad, a little de-rusting and a session with Caswell brush plating and it would be good to go.

The fork shouldn't be bent as it's an aluminum frame set which most likely would have snapped if it started to bend, so probably just a wonky photo
