$50 Peugeot in Gresham, Oregon

Okay, I don't know Peugeot's. At all. But this seems a decent mid-range bike for $50. 501 tubing, some Shimano 105 bits.

It is strategy if you have time. If you don't it may not be the best way to move something. Although, it is a desirable frame builder, the pool of candidates for this bike at this price and this time is small. I think it will find it's buyer and price. Let's see if now that the price is where we think the seller wants it, they become more responsive.

I reached out to him again today and included the chain of our previous emails so there is no way he couldnt not know who I am. So far no response back..... We shall see.

Let's hope that he/she is serious about selling it at the new price. That price should be a motivator.

He just replied - said he got my messages and then said but he is still having issues with his email? Said he is undecided what he wants to do now and is not in rush. He is still considering my offer and thanked me for my interest. I guess all I can do is wait and see if he chooses me or not.

Pix assist (plus some text assist, too)
Looks like a nice frameset and a nice price! If I needed another project I'd be driving up to Rocklin for this...but, no. Got plenty already.

This is a late ‘80s Francesco Moser Super Prestige frameset built with Columbus SLX tubing. The “51.151” in the frame graphics and the curved arrow panto’s on the lugs and fork commemorate Francesco Moser’s 1984 world record of 51.151km in the Hour Ride.
The frame measures seat tube 55cm c-t, top tube 55cm c-c, 130mm rear dropouts, Italian bottom bracket, braze-on front derailleur, and weighs 5.82 lbs. The whole thing needs a thorough cleaning, paint needs attention, chrome on forks/chain stays/seat stays is all very good to excellent.
No Dents!
Existing graphics are intact and I have replacements for the two missing on the seat tube along with the tubing sticker. The replacements go with the frame of course.
This is a rare and high quality frameset. It is well worth restoring. If it were my size it would not be for sale.

Damn, wish I lived there, that's a heck of deal, and it looks nearly new from the photo, and it looks almost all original, somebody needs to rush over there.

Look closely at how the fork crown sits below the bottom cup on the head tube. Looks to me like the crown and blades are bent back.

Yeah, I did see that, but from my experience of seeing photos like this lots of times they sometimes appear bent when they're actually not, depends on the angle of the camera, so I didn't mention it because it is quite possibly a camera angle thing. A person would have to go there and look at the bike in real life to see what is actually going on.

Some years back, the first time I saw that weird effect, I mentioned on a forum to guy who was trying to sell the bike, he got very upset with me for saying that, and swore it was not bent. One of the guys on the forum lived close to the seller, he went there and confirmed the fork was not bent, and since then I seen that affect numerous times.

Really, the only way to be sure is to go and look at it.

^^^^^^^ It's not just camera angle that can create that illusion. It's the steering position of the fork, the focal length of the lens and its perspective distortion, etc. All the more reason always to shoot straight at the bike (not downward from a standing position) zoomed in as tight as possible, as this flattens the image.

It's also why it's more important to look at details like the fork crown / headset cup angle, rather than the overall picture. That usually tells the story better. Doesn't conclude anything, of course, and nothing conclusive was ever implied. But it calls for a closer look by anyone interested.

re: the fork's bent comments on that Super Course: it very well could be, and I was debating whether or not I should post it, but the low price of $50 won me over. What do a decent pair of bar-end shifter go for nowadays? Here are the other pics from the ad.

I think the biggest reason this will go unsold is the remote location.
