That'd be mine. I also have it in the FS forum here: https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...-Frameset-64cm

I adjusted the price there to match the CL ad. I do have a CL prospect viewing tomorrow (Monday) but otherwise there's always a (at this price small) discount for BFers.

Given I'm in the middle of the country shipping shouldn't be too horrid.

Double-butted tubing? - I think not. Where did that bit of terminology come from. People need to be carefull in misrepresenting an item if their knowledge of it is limited. I guess for $20 you'll get a french bottom bracket and crank.

Raleigh Pro ? / SF Bay Area

Given the history of abuse, and the
obvious senseless disfigurement, this
is dubious at best, but a lot of people
were *****ing and moaning about wanting
a Raleigh Pro, so:https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/bik/2151121255.html
Vintage 1974 Raleigh Pro 56cm Reynolds 531 - $200 (palo alto)

Date: 2011-01-08, 9:07PM PST
Reply to: sale-fwucv-2151121255@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

This is a Raleigh Professional 1974 56cm frame repainted as a Pogliaghi. Some braze-ons have been added to make it suitable as a light touring or randonneuring bike. Right dropout was repaired by framebuilder Bernie Mikkelsen, who also checked the frame for alignment. Reynolds 531 butted tubes, Campagnolo dropouts, Campagnolo Record headset. Nice fastback stays, "CC" cutout in the bottom bracket shell. Asking for $200 or best offer.

I have other parts and frames listed in "Virtual Garage sale"
Mikkelsen has a pretty good reputation
locally as a guy who knows what he's
doing.

But the faux Italian repaint is beyond me.

The listing is mine. I agree with the sentiment, this was a pity purchase for me. I had the dropout repaired, but realized I won't get to finish the project, especially since I have a Raleigh Pro and a Pogliaghi! I don't mind losing money on this if it goes to a good home.

EDIT: Mikkelsen really liked the dropout modification. He said the standard Campy dropout is weak in this triangular area, this rack braze-on strenghtens it instead of concentrating the load at one point. A side effect of the repair is that the adjuster hole is filled.

Forgiven.

At your price, someone can build a very nice rider.

You've done a great job with the other bikes you've displayed here on the forum, so this is hardly the end of the world.

That's a great question. Years ago I heard that he was making 8,000 steel bikes per year. So over 30 years that would be about 240,000. I don't know how accurate that is.

It looks like a 1989. It looks too big to be a 56cm, but not big enough to be a 63cm, so I'm guessing it is the 59cm.

Not exactly vintage, but this might be a good item for some of you putting new drivetrains on old bikes:
