I actually saw my childhood bike (that bike, with WITH the cool sticker on the chainguard) for sale a couple months ago in minty condition on CL for $100. I found I had no desire to own it. I just pulled the above photo off Google for reference.

I wouldn't mind the Marin though, as I could relive the rainbow goodness. Right now I'm resisting the vintage 3-speed I posted here earlier. Might go see it tomorrow. Because I need another 3-speed. No. But I might need this one. I might. We'll see...

I have a soft spot in my heart for this bike. A 1984 Trek 560 was my first USCF bike.
This seller had this listed as a 1987 but I sent him the info and links to show him it was a 1984.
The stand over is 33 inches (which would bring tears to my eyes at every stop - 31" inseam) or I would be making him an offer. I am just getting too old to ride wrong sized bikes.

I honestly don't know. I'd have to drive 45 minutes to measure. They think it's a 54cm. If so, it seems tall for a 54.

57cm Bianchi project bike - $100 (Somerville)

This is a nice Japanese-made (~1984) Bianchi road frame (57cm c-t x 57cm tt) with butted Ishiwata tubing throughout. Needs new bottom bracket and (possibly) rear wheel.

Frame is straight, with horizontal Suntour dropouts and fender/rack brazeons.

Comes with rear rack, fenders, a nice SR triple crank, alloy seatpost (no saddle), alloy bars/stem/levers, recent long-cage Shimano derailleur, and fairly new Kevlar-belted tires on box-section rims.

This will make a great commuter or fixed-gear conversion.

Thanks, Rocket sauce, I picked this up this morning, along with a bunch of other parts for an additional $20. The seller was a 3 minute walk from my house!

I Would not deal with that seller. I won the bike on Ebay and they would not let me pay for it on local pickup or give me any contact info. They wanted me to send paypal for it with zero information on how to contact them or address to pick it up. I guess they were unhappy it sold so low.

I'm guessing by "Nashiki" they mean Nishiki and by "Shamino," they mean Shimano. Might be a good deal:

^ Reading my own post makes me want to skip down the street counting and shouting: "Shamino, Shimano... Hasenpfeffer Incorporated!"

I suspect I'm dating myself with this reference, but now I can't get the song out of my head.

I'm at least as old as you, and I get it. And I never really knew what they were saying before "incorporated", so thanks for that!

It's the opening words from the 70's TV classic, Laverne and Shirley.

They're even riding together on an older bike at the end.

I had no clue Trek made mixtes back in the day.
Oh, yeah, and they're really nice lugged frames. I built up a 21" for my wife last summer with Deore and 27's- same metallic blue color. She prefers the low rise fixie-type bars and grip shifts, but loves the bike.
