Bikes: Was Fuji and got my grails (Pro, Pro SR, Design Series, & Ti). Now I hunt 50's and older road bikes.

Per the Schwinn Superior above.

Can someone explain why fixies/ss bikes always have multicolored components added, often with different rims and/or tires? Why dump close to $500 into something like this when you could reuse the original rims, hubs, cranks, and such. Is it to make each bike unique? Seriously, I want to know and am not trolling. I know that I will never agree with it, but I'd like to get an idea of the thought that goes into this.

It must be some kind of "individual coolness" factor. Some of them are down right hideous! Speaking of Fixies, has anyone seen the goofy H & R Block "free" Fixie commercial?

I think the multi-colored ones are targeted for a certain section of society...girls or wanna be girls. Or maybe 80's fashion is creeping back?

Here's another one.

Mens' Trek 1220 road bike, deep purple color. Still in good condition, as it has hardly been ridden in the last 12 years and I think I bought it in 1997. Shimano accessories, including clipless pedals. Two water bottle cages attached. Don't know exact frame size but I'm 5'8" and is probably better for someone 5'7" as it always felt a bit small for me. Prefer Tuesday 1/25 evening 6-8pm for pick-up.

KLEIN 62CM PROJECT WITH MAVICS

I talked to the guy and he said he wanted $100 for the frame by itself. If it fit I would be on it. I can facilitate.

Mid-‘80s aero frame in awesome condition, just some nicks from use. Size 54. Built up with mix of Campy C-Record, CdA and Chorus. Delta brakes, tubular wheels. Aero seatstays and piggyback friction shifters. A steal at $1,500.

1987 Gitane RS race bike, complete with full Mavic group and a number tab. New tubulars. Crazy pink but what a ride! Paint is faded and scuffed but Reynolds 531C frame - size 54 - is straight and chromed underneath. Ride it as is or ship it off for repainting. It's that nice!

It is tempting, but I'd have no use for it (way too small) and no interest in low the end Shimano stuff it comes with.

Late 70's Full Campy Colnago - $375 (NW Denver burbs)

Selling a late 70's full Campy Colnago. Unfortunately, the frame is bent, and the drive side dropout is cracked, so the frame is probably best used as a wall hanging, although I have ridden it and it rides straight.

- Full Nuevo Record with Colnago pantographed chainrings
- Vintage Bullseye pulleys on the NR rear derailleur
- Concor saddle, rock hard as expected after 30 years
- Bombproof wheels, 36 spoke low flange hubs with Mavic GP4 sew ups, brand new Vittoria tires, Regina freewheel
- Cinelli bar and stem
- No pedals

Brake hoods are not Campy, but are in OK condition. Brake pads are not Campy, either.

Campy stuff from this era is more difficult to find every year.

I remember trying to sell these back in the '80s. Hard to justify two tire sizes. We'd take the rear wheel out and stand on the rear triangle to show how stiff/strong it was. Cool for it's oddness.

Nice Velosolex Reynolds 531

12 Speed Bike with 62cm Reynolds 531 Frame (Princeton)

Date: 2011-01-25, 8:28PM EST
Reply to: see below

Velosolex 12 Speed Bicycle with Reynolds 531 Frame 62 cm (33 3/4" standover hight). This bike would be good for someone 6' 1" or taller . The frame is in good condition , but paint has some scratches. I installed brand new 27"X 1 3/8" knobby tires, and new cork handlebar tape. The bike would be great on the towpaths or for commuting.... I am asking $ 175.00 for this bike but I am willing to sell the frame , fork , headset and cranks if you would like to build your own bike.............I can deliver this bike within the Princton area if you do not have a car... (732)718-7181......Thanks for looking
