Hand built Vitus tubing French bursa style ladies bike c.1972 - $650 (Gibsonia)

Date: 2011-06-11, 7:32PM EDT
Reply to: sale-ph5fq-2435093240@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

This bicycle was designed by Michael Fraysse. It was hand built by Starr-Nord in 1972. Less then 300 were built and few still exist. This may be the finest example in the world. The tires and tubes are brand new. The fenders and chain guard are aluminum. This is a rare 39 year old bicycle in great condition. You will never see another one! The soft sweep to the mixte split tubes is a classy touch. Anyone can go buy a new trek with giant gaudy letters telling the world you bought a T R E K. This bicycle stands out and speaks for itself. The choice of Vitus steel makes this bicycle much lighter then you would expect. If you continue to take excellent care of this bicycle your grandchildren will be able to ride it with as much joy as it will give you.

Supposedly 531 but that crank doesn't seem to jive with high-end. Worth looking into.

I thought he Franche-Comte was neither double butted, nor Reynolds 531. Looks like a pretty good deal, nonetheless.

Last edited by realestvin7; 06-22-11 at 10:55 AM. Reason: It is most likely 531. Lol.

AFAIK, ALL Jeunets said "Franche-Comte" on the downtube, regardless of model. I know my full-531-db racer did.

Apparently they were Reynolds 531. My buddy had one, but I guess the Reynolds stickers had long since been removed. And yes, that is a Specialties TA crank. I now say that bike is a really good deal now. I wish that bike were shorter. It's very attractive.

The Jeunet has been on Indy's CL on and off for weeks. It's a model 630. I'd have bought it, but I already have one. It is indeed DB 531 with TA Pro 5 Vis arms and Criterium chain rings.

The Suntour mechs are obviously a replacement. I suspect the wheelset is as well.

Why the frick is it still available? I like it a lot and if it was closer and my size, I wouldn't hesitate.

Someone was looking for one of these....nice bike!

https://denver.craigslist.org/bik/2455055444.html

GT Xizang Ti Large (19") - $750 (Longmont, CO)

This Xizang was built in Boulder Colorado at the GT Epicenter. It is a great bike for its age and handles like a dream.

Fork: Fox FX and needs new seals. https://www.foxracingshox.com/special...d/06_forks.htm

Gruppo: XT and it needs a new drive train. I have a brand new XT Cassette and Ultegra chain and you only need to get the three chainrings.

Wheels: The rear wheel is 6 months old and the tires have about 100 miles on them. The front is a Kenda Nevagal and the rear is a Kenda Karma. I have the original rear wheel and the freewheel hub needs to be replaced. I was quoted $75 for parts and labor.

Seat & Seat Post: WTB and Thompson

Stem: Raceface

The front fork has the ability to mount a disk brake and a friend of mine can weld the rear adapter on if you want to have a rear disk brake (at your expense). He is the best Ti frame builder and he welded this frame when he worked for GT.

Let me know if you need more info and thanks for looking.
