Rare Jeunet Franch-Comte Campy 61cm (South Shore)

Date: 2011-11-05, 8:50AM EDT
Reply to: sale-23e6r-2671202031@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
This is a beautiful example of a vintage road bike. This Jeunet Franch-Comte is in excellent condition, with detailed lug work and pantographing. Its frame and fork are both Reynolds 531. It has a high quality leather Brooks style saddle made by Speedic. The shifting is smooth thanks to a Campagnolo front derailleur, and a stock Simplex rear derailleur. The front and rear dropouts are also Simplex. The Campy hubs are laced to Mavic rims, with new Hutchinson Tempo 1 tires. This bike is super light, rides great, and is a rare piece of history. I am asking $475, although reasonable offers will be considered.

52cm Guerciotti - 80s classic - Red with All Campy - $600 (Westford)

Date: 2011-11-04, 8:38PM EDT
Reply to: sale-us5at-2685917751@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
52cm classic Italian red frame - All Campagnolo throughout (Athena group, I believe.). Very few miles (500 if that!) -- Unless a bike has been in a museum since it was new, I'd challenge you to find a 25 year-old bike with less miles!

1980s equipment as expected - Sew-up wheels, downtube shifters, platform pedals, exposed cables. If you like the latest click shifting and auto-whatever, this bike is not for you.

The frame is in beautiful shape -- no rust, couple of minor pebble dings, but you really need to look for them. The paint and gold trim work is perfect. The Campy stuff looks like new. I have two like-new saddles for it -- Concours America and Avocet women's gel. Nice new yellow Cinelli cork tape. Photos do not do the bike justice -- This bike shines.

Rear rim has a ding and should be replaced. Front is just fine. If you have your own wheels and don't want the sew-up wheels, I'll keep them and take $50 off the price. No tires are mounted on the wheels -- My old DeRosa used up all my sew-ups and haven't glued up new ones. Everything else on the bike works like the day it was built. It should with such low miles.

Add your own clincher wheels and clip-in pedals and this bike is a perfect all-around ride. A few years back, I had a buddy fly in to ride the PMC with me and he borrowed this bike. We adjusted the seat height the night before and he did the 192-mile Sturbridge-to-Ptown route with a smile on his face! Typical old-school Italian racing bike -- Very good performance and all-day comfort.

Road Bicycle Frame + Parts: Paramount Series 3 - $75 (Roslindale)

Date: 2011-11-05, 1:23PM EDT
Reply to: sale-s8ps2-2686798165@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
1992 Schwinn Paramount road bicycle frame/fork. Includes handlebars, original Shimano RX100 brakes and crank. Includes also front wheel.
After racing this bike in the 90's, I stripped it down to a single fixed gear track bike. No longer have the gears and derailer.
Frame is in good condition, has stood the test of time and use. Will make a great commuter. (NOTE: Price does NOT include pedals. Seller will remove pedals.)

Open to offers.

This has FAKE written all over it. We saw another similar CL post a few weeks ago--"Never ridden, must have been a promotional item from the tire company..."

If it's legit, most sellers like that take the first buyer and are done with it. No emails, no phone calls. $20 is a pizza around here...

It doesn't look like a scam, per se, more like a practical joke. We recently had someone around here who listed vintage Colnago, Merckx, and De Rosa track bikes for $100 apiece, similarly appearing not to know what they were. The poster had used someone else's phone number (maybe an ex girlfriend) and the poor woman couldn't figure out why she was getting so many unsolicited phone calls.

I responded but was second in line. Fortunately the re-seller was negotiable and I had some non-Lotus to trade so we worked out a deal.

I really wanted the bike because I have the same size Legend Compe and now I can do a side-by-side measurement of the frame geometry for the website.
Nice work!

IIRC, the Accordo was exage and the Accordo was their bottom of the line recreational bike. So heavy. The Schwinns look like Super Sports, but I could be mistaken. Those and the Trek all would have better tubing and ride nicely. The Trek might be the one on the worth more side just because of it's collect-ability. It has Tange tubing w/ Hi-Ten steel fork and stays, so the Schwinns might ride the nicest of all of them. Here's the spec on the Trek:
