The guy at HB Bike Shop (does he post here?) has a 59cm Raleigh Racing Prestige for sale - wish it were one size smaller.

Yeah, I agree. About our size If I were closer to Saugus I'd be tempted just for the parts. Plus it'd be cool to try an aluminium C-dale.

+1 you can tell in the pic by comparing the wheels to the frame. Also it seems to have some really tight aggressive geometry.

1957 Steyr 3 Speed - Unique History - $50 (san bruno)

Date: 2011-12-14, 7:06PM PST
Reply to: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/bik/2753846236.html
1957 Austrian Steyr 3 Speed.

Steyr was one of the companies in Nazi Germany that participated in slave labor of the Jews for war time manufacturing. Steyr operated one such factory in Austria and used slave labor from the Mauthausen-Gusen Concentration Camp to build military bikes and motor cycles. In 1946 Steyr Bike Works became the first commercial factory to start producing in Austria post war. A large number of the former slave work force remained to take paying jobs in the factory. This bike was built in that factory in 1957.

This bike would make an excellent restoration or a really cool fixie. The frame is steel and well built. The crank is a steel three piece and the chrome is still in great shape. The rear wheel is missing a few spokes and needs to be trued up, but is not bent or warped. The internal three speed hub still shifts fine and comes with all the cabling and pully still attached and in good shape. The handle bars and stem are steel and the chrome is in great shape. The frame is not rusted anywhere. Also comes with the original metal fenders in good shape.

Has a good set of original Swiss made Weinmann Type 810 side pull brakes that are worth the selling price of the bike alone.

The front wheel doesn't come with it as I put it on just to roll it around.
Not too many of these still around and would make a very unique bike.

I prefer to meet at a local 24 hour Starbucks near Tanforan Mall.

I have a 1973 T22 and it has a straight rear seat post tube. I think the 1978 model had short couple (curved tube).
