"Unusual" is right. Can't say I've ever seen that before. Is this safe!?!

[h=2]Old school 700c wheelset with unusual spoke pattern - $150 (SE PDX)[/h]These wheels are old school Maillard 700 hubs, which are every bit what Campagnolo Super Record hubs were in their day, laced to Mavic Module E2 Argent rims with DT stainless spokes. These are hand laced in the a very unusual braided pattern, look at the pictures. I put them on a hook and ogled them, but never wanted to hoist my Clydesdale arse up on them for fear of knocking them out of true. It's time for you to have them.

The rear hub is a 126mm spaced thread on for six and seven cog freewheels. The rims are presta valve holed clinchers.

Rene Herse Type 500 - $4000 (Highland/Griffith,Indiana)

Reply to this post

Hello, I am selling a Rene Herse Type 500 Chrome bicycle. The bike is made from France and is very rare to find. This bike is in great condition. It just needs to get the chrome shined and a tune up on the original brakes. The rims are not dented or the body of the bike. It needs new tires and inter- tubes and then it's good to ride.Im not a expert on Bicylces, but from researching online the bike runs for $8,000 retail. I am asking for $4,000 or best offer. This is a very serious sell and I will not accept any low ballers.

Text Only and I can send pictures of the bike or leave me a message and I will get Back to You.

Here is a nice trio og Bianchis I stumbled across on Portland Ore's CL.

An '87 Volpe in Torquise, which although pricy I am very interested in if there is a good haggler/facilitator in the area. Looks to be in good shape with alot of upgrades (well changes) http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bik/3242926520.html

http://images.craigslist.org/5L75G45...c517151df0.jpg

This '89 Tangent again seems pricy but judging by those wheels could be NOS! I bet it has less than 100 - 200 miles
http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bik/3226611276.html

http://images.craigslist.org/5Ef5W65...6187031317.jpg

This looks like a nice '84ish frame but I can't tell what model it was. Seems to have a good upgrade of some fancy Mathouser brake calipers and Phil hubs. I think judginh from the tubing decal and the chrome stay it is a '85 Mondaile

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bik/3210083883.html

http://images.craigslist.org/5Kc5F15...7c514e1000.jpg

There are two nice looking Univega Hybrids out there too, both with that imitation MAX frame Ben lawee called BiAxial Power Oval.

This smallish Via Montega looks like a good deal at $175 http://salem.craigslist.org/bik/3238340972.html

Then there is a taller Via Carisma but it id $300 http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bik/3217781482.html

Just like a bike is worth more stripped for parts and frameset than it is as a whole, this collection is worth less together than sold out individually.

These are simple supply & demand economic principles.

The guy is taking a LOT of bidders out of the equation by insisting he sell them all as a lump sum. Stupid.

curbtender 09-03-12 08:12 AM

I agree, at about $1000 per bike it's a tough sell.

1987 Cannondale SR1000 58cm VGC - $800 (Winston-Salem)

Date: 2012-09-04, 7:29AM EDT

this is an extremely rare gem!! a 1987 Cannondale SR1000 in white with the '87-only custom airbrushing option from the factory. even better, this bike came with the top-of-the-line Suntour Superbe Pro groupset which was factory finished in matching white just for this model, this year only. a very unique and rare groupset. the only items missing from the original bike are the pedals; usually the first things switched out, the stem; a longer black Nitto was installed, seatpost; the original needs new hardware, but will be included, and the brake hoods; NOS DiaCompes in matching colors replace the stock white hoods. the bike will be sold without the pictured spd pedals. the matching tires go with it, but the rear will need to be replaced soon. everything has been cleaned and maintained well, and the bike has many miles left on it. the paint is not entirely perfect, it has many small scratches and chips, which is common for a bike of its age, but there are no large scratches that catch the eye. this bike is fast. it has an 11-21 cassette on the rear and the frame is built for sprints. these old Cannondales were built for Criterium Racing and are super stiff, this bike will still sprint super strong and will keep up with many modern bicycles when paired with the right legs. its a shame that i finally have to let it go, but it is just a bit too long for me, and i no longer have the space to keep it. my loss is your incredible gain. call or text me at (336) 970-9881

Trek Y Foil Carbon Fiber 21" Racing Bike - $950 (Lincoln)

Date: 2012-08-26, 3:11PM EDT

Innovative U.S. hand built carbon fiber racing bicycle developed for Lance Armstrong's use in the Tour de France. The Y Foil was only in production for two years, in 1998 and 1999, until the bike was banned from international road bike racing due to the "unfair advantage" of the innovative frame design (it was too fast!). There were two initial Y Foil models; this is the top end model, gold in color and hand built, with top components. The bike has developed quite a cult following over the years due to its beautiful design and distinctive look--you will turn heads when you pass people on this ride. It is truly a work of art.
In pristine condition, test ridden only for fewer than 50 miles. Top of the line Dura Ace components, cutting edge Rolf wheels. This bike is an absolute rocket. Owned and maintained by the retired owner of a bike shop in Lincoln. Triathlon legal, an amazing bargain for any serious biker.

those Y foil bikes had a lot of problems with the aluminum bottom bracket insert housing that was bonded in place to be attached to the carbon fiber shell. The bonding would come loose and the housing would first start to make a clicking sound and eventually just come completely loose. Not sure how Trek handled that problem, I would assume bond in a new aluminum shell. Also the rear stays were subject to shoe rub which could be easily remedied by either putting a stay protector on the stay or pedals with longer axles. The paint on the seams on the OCLV lugs would crack which can simply be painted over which you would want to do because water seeping into the paint can destroy the carbon. Water bottle mount was not real secure and over-tightening it broke them inside the frame, and the placement of the mounts won't allow larger bottles so for rides more then hour on hot days you would probably need a hydro pack or see if one of those dual water bottle holders will fit on the rear seat but then you can't put a seat bag back there.

The glue in bb shell was a problem with the first year models, not sure if they corrected that with the second year models.

But even though the bike was heavy by today's standards the aero efficiency more then made up for it, but you do have to be careful in cross winds. Also you can lighten up the bike a bit with modern lighter wheels which I think that bike already has.

She ended up selling them all together to another collector - for around $.25 on the dollar. That's what happens when you want the easy route and sell in bulk.

That asking price is absurd...it isn't even close. The valuable bikes in there (and there aren't enough of them) aren't of the value to justify the price.

Well somebody though they were worth it.

I'm sort of glad I have been without power or the net for the last couple of days, or they might have followed me home, seeing as I could ride most of the sizes listed.

Interesting bike, in my town but I don't know the seller.

http://tucson.craigslist.org/bik/3244288770.html

This is an all original 57cm Viscount Aerospace pro made by Trusty of England everything on it is stock and branded Viscount. (aside from consumables i.e. tires, cables, housing, bar tape) It was fully overhauled by me a former bicycle mechanic everything is in perfect working order. Rear derailleur is a Shimano Crane the predecessor of Dura ace and the Front is Shimano Titlist also top of the line for the period. This is a collectible but perfectly serviceable for daily use. I am wavering on whether or not I will sell it or keep it in my collection this is a trial run, it is a very cool part of cycling history one of the first high end fillet brazed frames to be made from this time period. This was the top of the Viscount line in 1975 and is pretty darn light for the time and materials. Any questions please call 5two0 4eight8 83four2. I am selling it because it does not get ridden and needs a good home. I will not sell to someone who does not Love bikes! It also has a functioning Huret odometer on it from the same time period. Selling or trading my late 80's Schwinn Paramount 594 road bike. It's a 12 speed with all gears working properly (recently serviced at bicycle revolutions). It has some miles and paint damage, but nothing major. It's the perfect road bike for someone looking for a performance bike they can beat around and not worry about.
Just had a new chain installed, rear deraileur replaced and serviced, new triple puncture resistant bontrager tire, and nearly new brooks saddle.
The wheels are pretty darn close to true, and the brakes work amazing. All in all the bike is in great riding shape. If your not concerned too much with looks, even though it still looks boss, but are more concerned with performance, than this is it. Pics, show all except it's a bit cleaner and had some of the above things done after the pics. I might be willing to negotiate and am definitely interested in trades. I'm looking for a nice fixie or single speed and would love if you sent me some pics.. The bike may need some new bar tape at some point and new brake hoods. Love this bike but I can't stand city traffic anymore and don't want to kill my gears/ cranks.
Give me a call at 267-221-3406 or email,
Thanks,
T
