1982 Trek 715 - $450 (Chapel Hill )

Reply to: k3ddw-2956132142@sale.craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Selling my classic Trek road bike, which I am only the second owner of. The frame has a 56cm seat-tube with 57cm top-tube and is built with Reynolds 531 steel tubing. The bike is built with mostly Suntour drivetrain components with a Campagnolo hub/Rigida rim wheelset. The original Avocet saddle was not with the bike, so I installed a barely used Brooks Team Professional with copper rails/rivets. I have a frame pump and bottle cage that were purchased with the bike that I will include.

I have recently overhauled this bike with some new wear and tear parts. This bike was stripped to the bare frame and sprayed with framesaver to preserve the frame. From there is was built back up and professionally adjusted. The headset, bottom bracket, and hub bearings all have fresh grease.

Brand new parts include: handlebar tape, Forte Strada-K 700x28c tires, Cane Creek replacement brake lever hoods, Jagwire sealed brake/derailleur housing, Jagwire stainless steel brake/derailleur cables, and other misc. small parts.

Willing to negotiate on the price without the Brooks saddle, otherwise the price is firm.

Wow, whoever is selling that knows how to take some pictures. That should be in the list of how to make a CL ad to sell your bike.

Really cool bike. If you know, you know. Just spend $200 having the thing tuned and cleaned. Pedal enclosure was regreased. Newer chain and new tires and tubes. Rides fast clean and quiet. Great bike for a taller guy

Weighs about 21 pounds. Built between 87 and 88. Shimano 105 compinents. Named after the ironman Dave Scott.

Here is a internet forum with a bunch of enthusiasts drooling over it: https://forums.roadbikereview.com/ret...rt-200601.html

Here it is for $350 https://www.mmba.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=108959

Went in to the local odds-and-ends bike shop, and saw two things someone might be interested in. A set of Stronglite cranks--170mm decent shape (lettering scuffed but metal would polish up easily)--no chainrings or BB; and a bunch of SunTour (XC and SL) Uniglide rear hubs in NOS shape.

I can facilitate. The hubs are $10; the cranks were not marked.

1988 classic aluminum frame; one of the last to come out of PA. 63 cm size (so the rider should be over 6'). Some scrapes in the paint but otherwise perfect condition.

good luck with this! I rarely flip bikes but I bought a similar centurion mixte last year, spent about 8 hours cleaning the drivetrain, repacking bearings, etc, and couldn't seem to give it away, and I'm only about 30-40 minutes north. Had it on cl for months. Every buyer that emailed, phoned or came by had some complaint. Too heavy. Brakes squeaked. On and on. One guy even asked if it had forged dropouts. what!? it's a low-end mixte fer chrissakes!!

sold it to a woman for $130 and threw in a spare newish rear wheel with exceptionally clean shimano freewheel. wish I had that wheel back.

Just popped up on LA CL: https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac...959067252.html Looks like quite a few changes from original including drivetrain to later, indexed Superbe Pro, wheels, stem and bars, probably brakes. Don't think he will get away with running an auction on CL, and I hope not as I'd like to know what he gets for it.s

Since the CL link is Raleigh I am thinking Hillsborough NC which I thought was up on I85 at the Va border but I could be wrong.

Sorry - didn't think to put the state. It's in NC, a little outside of Raleigh. I almost bought it just because it's cheap, but I really have no use for it.

Ahahahaha! I saw the "Raleigh" and totally discounted it as "background noise" as when I think Raleigh I'm thinking a Nottingham England bicycle factory and/or brand -not a city/location in the USA...

My bad!

You could buy a gold plated Colnago made expressly for the Pope for about $4K less. I am at a loss what makes this track frame worth so much. It's limited numbers do not account for the high price.

Looking for a Frame? Frame Central - $25 (Newton)

Reply to: 7ftr6-2957209343@sale.craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
I work with a nonprofit that has been refurbishing bikes and giving them to adults living with mental illness. We have
a big surplus of frames, rims, seats and other parts that we are presently organizing and liquidating
to create more workspace. There are a number of classic road bike frames from the 70's and 80's such as Peugot, Univega,
Fuji, Shogun, Raleigh, Schwinn and more. We also have a pile of mountain bike frames, as well. For a $25 contribution, take a frame and
whatever is attached. If you're looking for parts, go through our parts department (or off some other bikes) and we'll negotiate. I will be
around through the long weekend and Tuesday and Wednesday this week, location is easy to find off rt. 128. Questions, feel free to e back
