A friend used to ride one of these as his work bike (messenger). It sure looked fast locked up, but he ended up hating it because it made his junk and hands fall asleep. He did have a HUGE saddle to bar drop.

By the way, it looks just plain wrong without cow-horns....

1986 Trek Elance, blue with silver graphics. Seat tube length: 23" (58.5cm), standover height approx. 33", made with triple-butted cromoly. Unsure if components are original, since I bought it off of Craigslist a year ago, but it was tuned up recently and is a great ride. Some minor cosmetic scratches in paint on head tube and top tube, but no sign of rust. No sign of frame damage, dents, cracks. etc. I've really enjoyed riding it for a year, but I'll be graduating and moving out to the other coast. Also, the saddle has no brand name, but is ridiculously comfortable!

For frame specs, see: https://www.vintage-trek.com/images/t...rekCatalog.pdf

Local pickup only.

I purchased this from a collector in England. He wasn't sure what it was. Someone had taken a 1958 Raleigh RRA and gave it a "make over". It looks as though they removed the pump pegs and painted and decaled it to look like a Raleigh team bike from the 70's. If you look closely you'll see the lug work and the two grease fittings indicative of a RRA Moderne . This bike should have been sunburst yellow ( the color on the seat tube). The RRA Moderne was only made for a couple of years and makes this a rare frame ( check out Sheldon Browns or Classic Rendezvous web page). The seat tube measures 23" from C to T $350.00 Chuck

Price is firmly beyond the pale, as this appears to just be a UE-8 which is hardly rare. The situation it spent the past 40 years in is interesting if true, however.

Nah, I would hope that whoever buys it for me would do some negotiating. If you're saying it'll still be there in a month, I suppose there's a small chance, but this is Brooklyn. I just can't swing any bike purchases at all right now.

I think it's going to sit there at that price, Brooklyn or not. Hang tough...and be ready to low ball when the time is right.

I know it's a hot market...but most dudes aren't man enough to ride pink. Right there the market is limited. I think that sells @ $600 on eBay.

Too many dollar units on this I agree, but if it were here I would be wheeling and dealing for Mrs. Gomango.

I've got a complete Campy 8 speed gruppo that would look hot on that baby.

Drillium Dude loves his Davidson, so that's good enough for me.

It's definitely a bad arse frame, and I actually like pink (I'd rock this). I just don't think the market value reflects real value...does that make sense?

Yep.

She'd never sell locally at that price.

Maybe not even at $600.

Some mid priced goodies have just been sitting around here lately.
