Austro-Daimler Frame and Fork - $100 (Oak Cliff)[/h]

Date: 2012-06-05, 8:14PM CDT Reply to: 9txps-3060006243@sale.craigslist.org[SUP][Errors when replying to ads?][/SUP]

Austro-Daimler Superleicht Frame and Fork. 56cm full Reynolds 531 frame and fork made in Austria. Fork is also 531 and is fully chromed. Paint is scratched and chipped. Decals are rough and deteriorating. The frame seems solid to me, but it is just too small, so I have to get rid of it and find something bigger. There was information about the A-D Superleicht on Classic Rendezvous.com, but I can't get the Austria page to come up. But the catalog there lists it as 531, and the decal did say that, but it is now illegible. Campy headset and Japanese bottom bracket. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=254492 |

27" Lotus Road Bicycle Hybrid Comfort Bike - $125 (Boca Raton)

Date: 2012-06-05, 4:22PM EDT Reply to: see below [SUP][Errors when replying to ads?][/SUP]

2 new tires installed. Ready to ride. Quick release front wheel. Speed of a road bike with comfort handlebars http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/n...a11c9c1941.jpg Can anyone expedite this bike for me? I'd be happy to pay for your time. Plus it would make for a cool story on the Lotus website. It's a 1983 Lotus America. It looks all original, 1983 was the only year the upright bars and fenders came as factory equipment on the America. Actually, it's the only Lotus bike ever to come with factory fenders. What I find interesting about Lotus bikes is that even some of the low end models are incredibly rare. This is only the Second 1983 America I have seen all decked out like this one. This was the lowest-end bike still made in Japan by Tsunoda, the other entry level bikes, like the Special and Elite were made in Taiwan. http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/n...caShipping.jpg As it turns out the seller was familiar with budget Greyhound shipping and offered to pack it up and ship it for a reasonable price. This bike is really in sad shape and will need a full restoration. At least this gives me a good chance to use my own decals on a restoration project. I know I've already got more into this bike than it's market value. But as a Lotus enthusiast I appreciate how rare this bike is, even if it's an entry level model. Entry level Lotus bikes just weren't made in the massive quantities of other manufacturers, so they can be difficult to find. Coming from the automotive field, I have more than a few auto body friends who will paint the bike for me, or at least let me use their spray booth one afternoon. The parts on the bike aren't too expensive either. It should make for a fun project. I'd like to thank Chris_in_Miami for offering to expedite the bike for me. Considering that we don't even know each other, that was a super-cool thing to do. |
I never thought of that. I knew somewhere in the deep recesses of my brain that greyhound did that. I remember my brothers used to ship their seabags that way sometimes the catch a ride home later.
This could be the start of something big for Greyhound. |

This could be the start of something big for Greyhound. Since this project started here on BikeForums, is it worthy of starting a new thread to document the progress? I have a background in automotive restoration and have restored a few AACA Grand National Champion cars for customers. I plan on treating the bicycle the same way. Update: Package weight was 36.5 lbs, Dimensions are 54" x 30" x 10", price was $63.60 |
Wow, the Lotus seller got that bike boxed and shipped much quicker than I could have, looking forward to seeing the project as it progresses! FWIW, Amtrak ships bikes for a very reasonable rate also, it's another great shipping option when sender & receiver are near a train depot.

Any guesses as to what shifters/derailleurs are on this Traveler? Kinda looks like Suntour in the one pic, but the catalog specs for some of these 80s Travelers say Shimano. Also, the seller says these are 26" wheels. Does that sound right? If this would be Suntour and 27" wheels, I could see picking this up as a donor. Any thoughts?

This light blue 10 speed with friction shift on the downtube women's bicycle is in great shape. No bends, cracks or dings on the Crome-Molly 4130 frame. The wheels are 26" aluminum that are arrow straight. Two position brake levers for use while riding with hands up on the cross bar or down in the drops. The seat is in good condition with no rips, cracking or tears. The tires are older w/ cracks in the sidewalls but they do hold air and are rideable. I'm not sure what the frame size is, but it seems like a smaller women's frame. It is larger than a child size bike. 269-684-7874 Tammy or Mike http://images.craigslist.org/5E55K85...3d02ef1903.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/thumb/5...3d02ef1903.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/thumb/5...4162b91b47.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/thumb/5...6dbaf71e70.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/thumb/5...2963751bdc.jpg |
Crankset, brake levers, maybe BB, bars, and shifters would be well worth the purchase price on a flipper, IMO. Sell the frame on Ebay, Cr-Mo frames are worth at least $25, right?

Was taken on a 1 mile shakedown ride after assembly. This was Bridgestone's top of the line bike, which I believe became the RB-1. Highlights include: - "Flamboyant Red & Golden Tan" - double butted 25" frame - Suntour Cyclone II derailleurs - Nitto stem and bars - Sugino Cranks - Arraya Red Tubular wheels with original NOS Bridgestone sew-ups! (these are rare and an upgrade over clinchers listed in catalogue) Detailed specs can be found on original catalogue: http://sheldonbrown.com/bridgestone/...%20catalog.pdf More pictures can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mcmarti...7630087221130/ This bike is probably most attractive to collectors, but if you are looking for a brand new, stunningly beautiful, quality machine at great price you should check it out. Shop around for a modern bicycle of this quality and you will easily pay twice as much. Price is Firm http://images.craigslist.org/5N75If5...3ebc4c18b9.jpg
