Amazing Austro Daimler Vent Noir, the first version c. 1976. I have seen this bike in person as it's being sold by sometime C&Ver Night Tiger. He's a great guy and I highly recommend him, and this bike, if it rings your bell and you've got the scratch.

https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/bik/3162157476.html

Up for your consideration...the venerable 1976 Austro Diamler Vent Noir. In his 1976 review of the Noir in Bicycling Magazine, Gary Fisher called it "the Porsche of bicycles". And it truly is that: performance, beauty and mojo, all wrapped up in one 57cm package.

I am happy to email you a .pdf of the November, 1976 review. It's an excellent read

The bike is original except for the wheelset, brake lever hoods, brake pads and saddle. It is equipped with a full Reynolds butted 531 frame and fork, forged Shimano dropouts, 57cm seat tube c-to-c, 57cm top tube c-to-c. Rear spacing is 120mm for 5-speed. Shimano Dura Ace crankset with black anodized and drilled chainrings (53/42)
MKS "Unique" pedals in black with original dustcaps, Christophe toe clips and black leather straps
Shimano Crane rear derailleur in black (this was the first DA derailleur) with stainless steel cable housing
Shimano Dura Ace front derailleur in black
Shimano Dura Ace shift levers in black
Shimano Dura Ace headset in black
GB quill stem in black (the only non-metric allen wrenches you will need for this one)
GB map of England handlebars with engraved insignias and NOS rubber Velox handlebar plugs
Shimano Dura Ace brake calipers in black with Scott Mathauser pads
Shimano Dura Ace brake levers in silver with NOS Shimano hoods
Original black brake cable housing
Shimano top tube cable clips, rear derailleur stop and bottom bracket derailleur cable guide
Seat post is an early single-bolt Gipiemme, 27.2mm diameter
Seat post binder bolt is Campagnolo
The saddle is a Nuvola Racing Mundialita (I have a Brooks Pro as an option)
The wheelset is comprised of Galli hubs laced to Wolber Aspen tubular rims (front skewer is Campagnolo, rear is Maillard, freewheel is Suntour).
Tires are Vittoria Rally, approximately 3 years old, holding air well.
The flint catchers mounted under the brake calipers are hand-made brass units by Scott Gabriel.

The bike rides as it looks - amazingly. The same goes for its shifting and braking performance. All bearings were cleaned, inspected and repacked around 500 miles ago, bearing surfaces looked lovely, and all components spin like butter.

Cosmetically, the bike has a few nicks here and there, but very few for its age. The paint, in matte black with hand painted box lining, and said to be a secret concoction similar to what is used for paint between engine crankshaft bearings, has held up extremely well and the bike appears to be completely chrome underneath. There were a few areas on the rear derailleur that were touched up in black and the GB stem has been touched up with a Sharpie (the anodizing is quite delicate on that one). Beyond that, no repairs have been made to the bike, it is in excellent condition.

$1,000 for the bike as it sits. I do have a period correct ('70s) Brooks Pro that I can include with the bike for another $100.

I also have a set of NOS Mavic OR10 gold anodized tubular rims (36H) and a set of black Dura Ace high-flange hubs (used but in good shape) that I intended to build to approximate the original equipment wheelset. I never got around to buying spokes, though. The original wheelset was black low-flange Dura Ace laced to gold anodized tubular rims, but I preferred the high-flange hubs and bought those instead.

If the buyer were interested, we could work out a deal for these as well, depending on if the current wheelset stayed or went, etc.

At any rate, please include a phone number in your reply, I will not respond to anything that resembles spam (Is the item still available, etc.). Please also save my and your time wth low-ball offers.

Many more photos here: https://s176.photobucket.com/albums/w...20Vent%20Noir/

Thanks for looking!

I disagree with the seller - I've seen FAR uglier. Those bright neon 90s MTBs had some flair! I think this price is very attractive.

This is an old Marin mountain bike. Good size for someone 5'6" to about 6'. Although it is ugly, it is a great and tough bike. As you can see, I use it to tow my kid's tag a long bike (not for sale). The components are all suntour 7 speed. It shifts great. The wheels are true and it has brand new tubes, tires, and grips. You'll never loose it and who would steal it??
I can meet in Doylestown, Quakertown, Lansdale, or Montgomeryville.

Bicycle Garage Sale

I'm selling this in conjunction with a neighborhood wide garage sale from 9AM to 1PM. There are over 30 homes planned on participating. I'm on Oak Dr, North of Ellsworth.

This is perfect for you bike flippers, I will make package deals (bundle that, Frankie!)

About 20 wheels, mostly steel 26" & 27" Schwinn/Raleigh, mostly nutted, some QR alloy, some high end Dura Ace/ Campagnolo Record wheels from the 80's as well.
Some Park Tools and other bike tools
Zefal & Silca frame pumps, one with Campagnolo head, Silca & other floor pumps
Handlebars and stems, dozens of them, some alloy, Cinelli, most run of the mill (SR, Sakae, etc)
Saddles, pedals, locks, cables
Odds and ends, used tires/tubes real cheap
Racks, baskets, bags
Fenders for 26/27" bikes (Raleigh, Schwinn)
Shoes
Top quality freewheels (Regina, Dura Ace/600, Suntour)
Nice old school Vetta wind trainer
Some hubs/cassettes/derailleurs
Really nice quill pedals(Campagnolo, MKS, etc) and Dura Ace clipped and clipless.
Christophe, Campy toe clips, too!
Rhode Gear trunk rack for 2 bikes
Lots of other stuff, ask, I probably have it.

I also have some bicycles, mostly refurbished, one or two needing some time.
Everything from a cheap, working 3 speed, to a classic fillet brazed Schwinn Sports Tourer, all the way to a Columbus SL tubed Italian race bike. $100-$500

There a couple of nice Schwinn student bikes (baskets, fenders), and a real nice old Trek with some cool parts on it.

tl;dr--- bike stuff for all

I have dusted off my 1980's Voyager, overhauled and repainted in about 1994 it has about 400 miles on it. I always planned to ride it across the country, things change. Its ready to ride, email me with questions or to make an appointment to come see it. Asking $175. The frame is a 23", measuring from the center of the crank to the top of the seat tube.

Rare Japanese all-chrome...'85 Katakura Silk...large-ish frame size (claims 56cm, but looks a tad larger to me), seller says all original equipment (but not sure what that is) and he has some weird caveat about how the price will 'go up' as he polishes the rest of the chrome (!).
Can't seem to copy any pix off of eBay, so just check out the auction:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Katakura-Sil...#ht_500wt_1158
opening bid is $485...current BIN price is $699

BF member selling this I believe. Never gonna happen at $485 so continuing to polish to increase the price is a waste of time. These are nice bikes but barely worth the opening bid in fully restored condition.

Full-size frame built by Carlton in England. Made with flexible Reynolds 531 tubing. Always stored indoors by me (Original owner). Very good original condition paint but left fork can use some touch up. Original Brooks leather saddle. Original handle bar wraps. The gumwall tires and brakes are 3 weeks old and have less than one mile on them. This is a classic road bike from the Seventies. Phone calls only. Local pickup. Call Mike 973- Two-Two-Two-2208. Serious inquiries only, reasonable offers considered.

On the 'somewhat different' tack:

[h=2]1977 Schwinn Paramount T32-9 Tandem Bike - $1250 (North Jersey)[/h]

Date: 2012-07-29, 10:48PM EDT

In addition to their renowned single-rider Paramount road bikes, for a number of years, Schwinn also produced a Paramount deluxe tandem "bicycle built for two". Marketed as a "15-speed touring and sports model for those who demand the best", this beautiful ride features the following construction and OEM components;

4130 Chrome Moly mainframe tubes with fillet-brazed joints
Campagnolo aluminum alloy three piece cranks with36-46-54 main wheel
Campagnolo Record large flange quick release hubs
Schwinn-approved GT-300 rear derailleur
Huret Success front derailleur
Mafac Cyclometeur brakes with braze on fittings
Mathauser brake blocks
Campagnolo seat posts
Brooks leather saddles
Approximately 43 lbs in weight
Finished in yellow sometimes referred to as "Kool Lemon"

This two-owner bike is unusual in that most T32-9 models were constructed with the same length seat tubes in the front and rear positions. This custom-built frame (which I have the original build sheet for) features a slightly shorter rear seat tube and an angled top tube for the stoker. I obtained this bike with clips but have two sets of the Campagnolo SL Black pedals that would have come on this bike from the factory. A truly one of a kind premium quality vintage tandem in unmolested, original and ride able condition. $1250 or best offer. Delivery and limited shipping available. Interesting trades also considered.

[h=2]Raleigh International - $150 (novato)

Raleigh International, 20.5" frame. One owner. Purchased in 1976. Very well cared for, but has not been ridden in a long time, so needs a tune-up. Originally International Silver, but repainted to blue and magenta. All original Campi Nuovo Record except for Suntour shifters. Cinelli bars and stem. Original Brooks saddle. Beautiful lugwork. This is a great long distance and touring bike.
