The beauty of craigslist is that you have to name your price, which means if you're adept at spotting a good deal, as I have been, you can pounce, pay the full asking price (satisfying the seller) and gain an advocate (sellers have friends) in the future. Everybody wins.

thanks. i tried posting like how others have done, but i was on a mobile device. i'm new to classic vintage bikes so by the time i research a fair asking price the bike is already gone.

Smokin deal on a Raleigh professional. I don't know if any of the jewelry is original (doesn't look it to me), but the frame has fastback stays typical of a Raleigh Pro in that color scheme.

That is really something. Even if it was in my size and I had the cash, I don't know if I could see myself buying it though. I like bikes to ride not as art and I'd be too scared of scratching that thing to ride it.

geez this is a good one... especially for shorter riders... if the seller would just offer shipping he'd make a pretty good profit with a bidding war since its an eBay listing:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/NICE-Centuri...item1c2dc48922

Buy it now $279 and with the option to make offers also. Its only listed for "local pickup" in Raleigh/Hillsboro NC...

I remember trying to contact the buyer before if the bike was sold. It was listed some months before. but never got a response... I'd be all over this for my wife but I already bought her a bike.

At a$110 starting price I'm pretty sure it could be bought for under a hundred. Good all-a-round frame.

See, this is what I don't really get. The $110 price point is already pretty damn good, why beat the poor, illiterate bastard up for another $20 instead of giving them a positive craigslist experience which will most likely encourage them to post more bikes at great prices? Sometimes I find myself needing to step back from the 'game' of getting the best deal possible. It's $20, but if he has more bikes, you can put yourself at the front of the line. I got my lotus like this- the guy I bought my merckx from had it in his basement, with a sale looming, but he held it for me and agreed to a great price. In fact, I've paid the asking price for just about every craigslist bike I've bought. The deals were so good there wasn't any point haggling.

Perhaps this is a little too philosophical for the craigslist thread, but sometimes it's enough of a deal that you don't know what you're giving up by saving yourself $20 in the short run.

Witcomb Bicycle - 1970's - handbuilt, english - 57 cm - super rare - $1000 (Kutztown, PA)

Reply to this post whjtr-3422133111@sale.craigslist.org[?]
for sale is my handbuilt in england, Witcomb racing bike. The bike has been restored and is in "excellent" condition. Built by Ernie @ the Witcomb shop in London in the 1970's. Sold to a gentlemen in US and shipped to Connecticut, original owner sold to a friend who lived in Arizona and rode the bike through college and into his prime. I purchased from that gentleman (who lived in Arizona) and had the bike shipped here.

He had originally planned on the restore, but never got around to it.... A set of original decals was purchased from Barrie in the UK when the shop was still open years back. I have paperwork to go with them...

I had the bike stripped and powdercoated (receipts included), and decals installed. Bike has top of the line components w/ Witcomb's unique mixture of parts. Since they only built frames they frequently used mixtures of Campy and Dura-Ace.

Bike features Campagnolo shifters, derailleurs and Dura-Ace brakes. Cinelli stem & bars, Nervar Professional cranks w/ Phil Wood bottom bracket & campagnolo pedals, the wheel set is not original - a more modern Mavic Open Professional laced to ultegra hubs. Rear is 8 spd - although shifting only allows for 7 spd due to derailleur throw. You could change that by getting a derailleur with a longer throw.

These bikes are rare in the states. This is not to be confused with Whitcomb or the Witcomb USA bikes...

Witcomb London is since closed, Ernie's son Barrie has retired and this bike is a piece of cycling history.

It adorns my living room now, I'm not in a huge rush to move it along, its a very pretty bike. You'll be the only person locally riding one, I'm sure.

Asking $1000, but will entertain offers.

Think that one's actually in RVA, judging by the phone # and the fact it has been up on our CL a couple of times already:

https://richmond.craigslist.org/bik/3436055693.html

Thought about it, but it isn't full 531, just three main tubes.

Weirdly, our CL, traditionally awful, has a number of good deals right now.

80$ nice Nishiki: (edit: just sent an email on this one, the drillium looks inneresting)

100$ Brifter Cannondale, divorce special:

I wasn't sure enough to say it...sometimes the angles can be deceptive. I stared at this thing for a few minutes and still don't feel comfortable saying it...it looks off, but you can also see that the wheel/fork is not straight with the frame.

Actually I'm more inclined to say it's OK.

Someone posted on the Gitane Bicycles FB page asking about that frame - so at least one person is interested.
