Yeah, the New Orleans bike market is generally very overpriced, lots of demand and low supply

The issue is these are such tiny frames (look like 52cm or thereabouts) -they would be more worthwhile if they were 54cm or larger.

One may scoff at these Asian-made frames but just about everything is Asian-made these days along the same lines as these old Trek Hybrids. Compare to a Surly Crosscheck frame the only real difference is the vertical dropouts -which are totally unnecessary (and actually a PITA) unless you are one of those SS/fixie numskulls.
Those bikes were heavy bikes, the bikes weighed 30 pounds, my Kuna Lava Dome bike only weighs 23 pounds, all steel, with no suspension fork. There are lighter bikes he could find for close to that same price, mountain bikes don't hold their value like road bikes so with a more looking he should find a nice bike. The other problem I have with those two bikes is that judging by the pictures they look to be in rough condition, now the pics may not be very accurate and the bikes may not be as rough as they look, but if they are that rough there is no way those are worth anything.

[h=2]Bianchi Portofino Touring Bike, 58cm frame - $400 (Roslindale)[/h]

Top of the line Japanese built lugged Tange 900 double butted steel touring bike with fittings for three water bottle cages, low rider front rack, rear rack and plenty of clearance for fenders with 32mm tires. 33" standover height , suitable for riders 5'10" to 6"2". Similar in quality and geometry to a Trek 520 or a Novara Randonnee but with fancier lugwork. Classic 1/2 step Sugino triple chairing with excellent gear spacing and range. New chain and 13/28 freewheel.. 40 spoke rear wheel, for extra load carrying capacity. Nitto stem and handlebars with new tape and aero levers, new cables, barely used Sora rear derailleur. VG original paint. Rides beautifully on rough roads. From the early 1980's when every manufacturer produced a flagship serious touring model based on classic French designs..
This is the bike for a world tour!

New machined drop bolt. The listing indicates for a Schwinn Paramount, though I see no reason it shouldn't work on other bikes just as well.

VERY nice!

But that will not work very well with fenders. It's a bit too much.

I made my own for my Raleigh Competition out of aluminum plates with 2 holes drilled into them and then a tube spacer on between the bottom holes to replicate the width of the brake bridge above it.

The bottom hole on the back side of the brake was drilled out larger to accommodate a flush-mount brake nut and the tube spacer was the same ID as the flush nut to accommodate it as well.

I did this for both the front and the back brake.

This drop bolt would not work with the front brake fork crown bolt -only the rear.

22mm is too much IMHO. The difference in Diameter of 27" rims and 700c is only 8mm. And the wheel is only dropping the radius, or half of that: 4mm.

Even if one wants to run a Shimano groupset brake they are pretty much 49mm reach. Dropping 22mm might put it well into the reach of most bikes but then there would be zero room for fenders.

On my Raleigh Competition I dropped the Front brakes 16.4mm and the rear 14.5mm. This gives me enough room to mount SKS fenders inside the brake arch and still have clearance to run full-sized SKS Chromoplastic fenders over the 28mm tires.

I would have liked to have dropped the front less but that was the absolute minimum I could drop it as the spacer I was using would hit the bottom of the fork crown if I pulled it in any closer.

While I'm sure that this drop bolt would work very well for many bikes without fenders it would make it very hard to mount them. It looks beautfully machined and I applaud the guy for selling them. Maybe he'll make more in some different sizes, and make front versions too without the concave cutout for the brake bridge.

Also, making the rear half of the hole larger to accommodate flush-mounting would be a nice touch.

Nothing in the description but it looks 55 ctc seat tube and 57 ctc top tube to me. You can always ask the seller, he seems to understand English.

Well, if the seatpost isn't backwards, I would avoid that model like the plague...
