I would find a way to buy this - whether by selling other bikes, using a card...whatever. That's an awfully cool bike at a steal of a price.

At that price, I have to wonder if "steal" wasn't part of this bike's story. It seems like the owner could get twice what he/she is asking.

^Never thought of that. This area is notorious for bike theft. I'll steer clear of this kind of trouble. I know a bike collector that would love to have it though. Maybe I'll let him know about it...

Good luck! One of my favorite bikes on this forum (though I'm used to seeing it with the Italian-colored handlebar tape). I hope your son puts his education to good use. You better make him promise not to drop out after the first year.

iab and Gaucho thanks for the kind wishes. I actually loved my Italian Benotto tape, but I thought it was too much for most people so I changed it to white for the auction. Anyway I'll of course still be keeping one bike to ride, so that's all that matters in the end.

Great pic! My next pic/poster is the 3 riders at the front where one is smoking and one is lighting the thirds cigarette.

Did you really buy that beatup old VW? If so you need to look over there for a La PreAlpina rack.
