Although I don't like green ;-)

800 seems a bit steep with NR esp since the seller doesn't mention tubing. but it is very tempting.

Interesting mixte, I don't think it's worth a $1,000 by any stretch of the imagination, even at $400 it seems a bit steep because pictures, though they are pics so it's difficult to tell for certain, appears to show the bike to have rust spots. So the question would be how bad is the internal rust if any? It appears to have been stored outside for some time. Combine that with the fact that that particular brand were just OK bikes. The French name associated with a famous pro racer gives it a false sense of class.

By the way, the pump is not the original pump, the original pump fit the frames pump peg and was silver not off colored from the frame; not that the pump makes or breaks the deal because someone could always find the correct size and color pump.

I met this bike and the guy selling it. The bike is gorgeous in person. The guy, not so much. Just kidding. He's a perfectly nice guy.

OK. Some interesting biased opinions.
And some other meaningless insight. But thanks for the input.

I think $1400 is a bit optimistic as sales pricing value, but this might be of interest to a few flippers here:

[h=2]attention resellers : take 9 quality bikes off my hands ( bucks county, pa)[/h]
2 Treks, Peugeot, Gary Fisher, Specialized, Miyata, Raleigh, Shogun, Nishiki.
Will not sell any separately, must take all.
At a glance, some just appear to need a chain, a few tires, good cleaning and tune-up. 2 bikes have no rims, but I am sure I have some lying around. Have tires and a few seats too. Put a little work into them, you're looking at around $1400 min in sales. All look pretty good cosmetically or I wouldn't have purchased them. Best offer takes them.

I would jump all over this one if;

- The right size (60cm+
- I lived in the area

The location is probably the biggest factor Not a bad looking ride. With minimal work, it could be great IMHO

[h=2]Vintage 1981 Motobecane Super Touring Vitus 172 Steel 23 Inch[/h]Located in Bluffton, Indiana, in between Muncie and Fort Wayne.

[h=2]Vintage 1981 Motobecane Super Touring Vitus 172 Steel 23 Inch Frame Sw - $250 (Bluffton)[/h]

Rare 1981 or so Motobecane Super Touring with Vitus 172 double butted steel frame and hand painted lugs. I'm not sure on the year but its close as the bike has Suntour Vx shifters, derailluers, and bottom bracket which makes current stuff very easy to replace unlike older models that used swiss/french threading. The bike comes with Weinmann 27 inch alloy touring rims laced to Normandy 36 spoke hubs front and rear and new Continental Ultra Sport tires. It's a triple front chainring and five speed cassette making it a true fifteen speed bike. Also has Weinmann centerpull brakes and Dia-compe levers that need new hoods. It's all original except for the tires, bar tape, new cables, seat and seatpost. The original seat and post where missing when I got the bike. It's 23 inch frame measured from the crankset to the top of the seat tube and has a long 23 inch top tube measured center to center. A few small paint chips but overall very nice for a thirty plus year old bike. You can reach me at 419-419-8666 with any questions. Thanks!

"I have a 60's French 57cm Jacques Anquetil Grand Prix racing bike its complete has a original Ideale leather saddle and some old SIMPLEX parts (maybe for weight?)... Durifort tubing which made for a very light frame considering it was made in the 60s. tubular back rim (front rim is clincher with a campy hub ) I think it would be a awesome restoration project but i neither have the time, skills, or money..Ha "
