1987 Cannondale Black Lightning. Needs new tubulars, and a tune up, but the paint and condition is very good. Would have been mine today except that it's too small for me (58cm).

sorry if I'm coloring outside the lines, but what makes a carbon bike as C&V. Still new to alot of this stuff, but I would assume that the cutoff point would be some of those first titanium Merlins, ect...

not trying to bust on anyone, just curious

Motobecane Jubile, stem shift 10 speed - $100

Looks like a downtube shifting bike to me. Seems like a good deal. My size, too.

For me the term "Classic" has quite a bit of leeway. Going purely by year there were carbon bikes before there were any Ti Merlins. That may not be the case for the Y-Foil, but that bike was only made for a couple of years and has an iconic shape, so I'd say it's a classic.

FWIW, I check this thread often, if it is a good deal or pretty cool - C&V or not, I like to see it.

IIRC, these were made with Reynolds 531 and Nervex lugs. Looks like Campy equipped, too.

[h=2]1973 Mondia Special - one owner - $850 (Hollister)[/h]
If you ever wanted a clean vintage classic Swiss/Italian racing bike, this is the one. I bought it new in 1973, but has been ridden only slightly, recent tune-up, all original parts.
No rust, clean paint, never crashed.

I believe that bike will have Shimano Arabesque 600. Wish it were closer and larger. Looks minty.

[h=2]Bridgestone Road Bike, 10 speed - $150 (Newton)[/h]

Older, but in great condition. 25" with drop handlebars, quick release wheels, tires hold air just fine. In great shape and well taken care of, just doesn't get ridden anymore.

I can deliver locally to Newton/Boston/Cambridge, or its ready to ride home today!

982 Nishiki International - $180[/h]This is a 1982 Nishiki International. A decent road bike from the early eighties. Nice quality steel frame. Will fit someone around 6' 1" to 6' 4"Asking $180. New tires, new wrap, new cables. The price of this bike would barely cover the work done and tires at a bike shop. This bike is ready to ride and needs no servicing.

I have to cop to my ignorance with most road bikes after about 1982, which is around when I began a very long cycling hiatus. I mean, half the time I'm not sure what I'm looking at, but I'm also into a rather narrow niche of interest.
I check this thread often and have seen some cool very machines that don't exactly fit what I'd classify as C&V & some very good deals. Thankfully much of them are either too small for me, or too far away to go after.

LeMond 57 cm 'Reno' Road Bike - $175 (Little Falls, NJ)

Huh? The site he gives for the part list is for a entirely different year of bike! It's probably a 97 model year, some minor component differences between the 97 and 98 but the 97 had a better frame. If that bike is in good condition it's worth the price if it's a 97 it would be a fantastic deal due to the True Temper frame otherwise just a fair deal considering the RSX is a low end component package...similar to Tiagra.

Personally I think the price is about right at $175, but not a steal and not a turn and burn type of deal.

About a $250-300 bike in my neck of the woods. I like 7-speed RSX better than Tiagra - no thumb buttons!

But, yeah, not deal-of-the-century, Reno was Lemond's entry-level rig.
