I think these have a cult following, and seems quite reasonable:

Sometimes cutting and pasting the ad leaves out the actual ad link. And somebody should buy this one, if only to save it from the cross-chaining. That poor derailleur has probably been stuck like that for 25 years.

I'm watching this too, I don't care if it has a broken pump peg, I think it's beautiful.

That's a shame. The 501 lugged bikes are fantastic vintage riders, at least that's what I hear from a customer with a Trek 500 series. Keep looking I guess!

That tracks for me...I've personally held a 52cm ST, 57cm TT Austro Daimler. Apparently they used the same size top tube for all models in certain years.

I really like this bike - it's not a great price, but it's a fair price...and it looks awfully nice. I think these are some of the nicer eyelet equipped road bikes out there - this sort of straddles Sports Tourer/Roadie. I can possibly facilitate this one.

1984 Miyata 912 - 57" - 600/Mavic/Campy - $325 (Jenkintown)

For sale is a gorgeous 1984 Miyata 912 in excellent condition throughout. The color is Olympic Silver and the size is 57" good for riders 5-9" - 6-0".

I purchased this from the original owner and as far as I can tell its all original equipment as one of 1984's high end road/race bikes in that model year. Everything works beautifully and includes the following:

- Rear and front derailleur - Shimano 600
- Double crank (52-42) - Shimano 600 (2x7)
- Downtube shifters - Shimano 600
- Brake levers - Shimano 105
- Stem and Bar - Selle Royal
- Saddle - Selle Italia Turbo Matic (not stock)
- Wheel set - Mavic MA40 hard annondized laced to Campy hubs
- Pedals - Older Look

Lots of high quality stuff and this bike runs smooth and quiet on newer Vittoria 700x23 tires.

Cosmetically the bike looks great. The components all have a nice lustre, the rims and hubs are really in as new condition and the red highlights and decals all look great. The drive train is very clean and overall the paint is very nice with just a handful of minor imperfections. Perhaps a new set of clean red bar tape would enhance the look but what's on where now is fine with no tears.

Overall a super nice Miyata that doesn't come around all that often in the higher end category. I also own a Miyata 1400 so I can attest to how nice the Miyata's are and why they are so sought after.

Happy to meet to check it out and purchase for cash only. Thanks for looking.

don't really know anything about this particular model - just an FYI for any Hetchins fans ...

https://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/bik/4119034136.html

[h=2]Hetchins Scorpion Bonham Curly Stays - $1600 (Medford)[/h]

I have a very sweet mid 80's Hetchins Scorpion Bonham for sale. Serial # is 81046 which puts it in the Bob Jackson build era. Frame is measures in the English standard 23 inch and has curly chain and seat stays. List of components include Phil Wood 7 speed freewheel rear hub and matching front laced to Mavic Open Pro rims with Grand Bois 28mm tires. TA 175mm crankset with 48x36 chainrings. Dura Ace front and rear derailleurs, 7 speed downtube index shifters, seatpost and brake calipers. Nitto handlebars and stem, Stronglight headset, Ideale model 80 saddle, Brooks leather bar wrap, and painted SKS Longboard fenders. Frame, fork, chain & seatstays constructed from Reynolds 531C tubing which is a very light tubeset. There are some scratches on the frame under the top tube and on the left fork leg, but no dents or dings. The bike rides beautifully and is stunning to look at, and at this price a steal! Price does not include pedals and saddlebag, but they are negotiable.

If you happen to have some 30 hole hubs laying around and are wondering where you are ever going to find some rims, these are for you.

Nice rims, I wish they were drilled for my hubs.

It's difficult to tell in the photos but the paint looks rough. a lot of paint issues, who knows about the components condition but if the paint is beat up it's an indicator that the components possibly would not be far behind. Are these Hitchens in beat up condition worth $1600 now?

I think it would sell for that, or close to it, on eBay. The used Hetchins market is really, really odd...you can get a brand new Hetchins frame for $1500'ish. I could see paying this for an older-pre BJ Hetchins, but not for that one. I also don't think that was their high level model. The price difference between the really desirable Hetchins bikes and the ones like this doesn't really reflect the difference.

I'd rather have an Ephgrave to be honest.
