If the brakes don't fit then simply replace the front 700 with a 27" rim and rebuild the rear 27 if it can be rebuilt. Also if the rear brakes don't fit a 700 typically it's more expensive to put on new calipers that would (note I said typically). You might also be able to find used parts.
He's a bike guy... not sure if he's a C&V guy.
I actually have a set of 27" wheels in my basement.
Is the bike itself any good compared to my Centurion?

Trek 520, 2004, 57cm

This looks decent, esp for $300.
(I cannot facilitate.)
(And yes, I know it is not 'vintage,' but I thought it should be posted somewhere on these boards, and this is the first one that came up when I searched "Craigslist.")

[h=2] Sterling Custom Tandem by Steve Belinky - $1600 (East Falls, Philadelphia, PA)[/h]

craigslist - Map data OpenStreetMap

Tandem built around 1988 for 6'4" Captain and 5'0" stoker. Only used for a few short years, but has some paint scrapes with slight rust on edge of oval top tube. Steering a little stiff but nothing a tuneup can't fix. Frame is steel. Has 27" wheels and free wheel, so could use some updating. Still at this price, you can do that and get frame repainted if you wish. Frame was built slightly longer so that stoker doesn't have to be right on top of Captain. Bike has framework for carrying paniers front and back. We got bike so as to carry our young son around on back carrier. When he got older, we attached a kit to the seat tube with pedals he could reach so he could pedal as the stoker. This kit is included. Since he is long grown, and we prefer riding single bikes, we would like to see our bike go to a good home.

Someone ought to grab this bike. This is not an absurd price like the Trek 520 above it.

This is not a PGN but one or two model steps higher. PGNs had Reynolds 501 frame tubing, not Supervitus 980.
This bike has the same frame as the Peugeot PSV and early Triathlons, but features Italian components.
The asking price sounds OK if the bike and major components are in really good, close to mint condition.

I never liked the Peugeot line of bikes...just my opinion of course. I test rode their top the line Peugeot in 1981 and the frame was the noodlest frame I ever rode. Then add on top of that French quirks. It's a bike I would never buy...unless I got a whopping good deal.

[h=2]Handmade Italian Wood Rims in Original Box - $1000 (Hwy 68)[/h]
Up for sale are five handmade wood rims that have been in storage for the last 15 years. They are in the original shipping box and are wrapped in paper. The label reads P.zza Cincinnato 4 Milano, Italy. These are for sew up tires. The metal nipples for installing spokes are in their original packaging attached to the wrapping paper. There is a small tear in the paper (not by me) possibly to verify the contents. These are labeled Fori 32 (2) and Fori 36 (3). The wood rim in the picture that is unwrapped is a 36 hole version. These are rare and hopefully will find a good home.

$1000? Are they nuts? Ghisallo makes those rims any way you want for far less money for $136 each! Problem with wood rims is that before every ride you have to check the trueness because changes in weather will alter wood a bit. And Ghisallo has been making those wood rims and even a wood bike for years.

If I had the room this bike would be in my house now. This is a really cool find. A Marshall Fields branded Raleigh, probably Raleigh record.
And at $100 its a bargain.

The asking price sounds OK if the bike and major components are in really good, close to mint condition.
I have a PGN 10 with the 501 frame, which has been an excellent and comfortable rider. I can stay on that saddle for two hours with no problema.
