^^^ Local flipper. I haven't dealt with him, but have "heard" that he does a lot of bait and switch. He gets a lot of negative CL commentary...but it's hard to tell if it's all just one guy or several.

[h=2] Velo Orange CAMPEUR 61cm ultimate touring frameset - NEW - $400 (Center City Philly)[/h]

I bought this Campeur frame in Summer 2013 for a big planned bike tour that fell through, so the frame is still in immaculate AS NEW condition. Built up and test ridden a couple of times, but otherwise unused.

The Velo Orange Campeur is the perfect touring bike - with a 4130 double-butted steel frame that's lighter, faster and more elegant than the Surly Long Haul Trucker but with the same carrying capacity. It's also great for commuting and makes a general allround usable super-versatile frame.

61cm large frame for 700c wheels. 3 water bottle bosses. Front and rear fender and rack bosses. Mid-level through eyelets on the fork. Clearance for decent sized tires and fenders (I got 700x41c tires on it). Pump peg. Kickstand plate. Takes a 1" quill stem and cantilever brakes.

Also comes with a brand new Velo Orange Grand Cru headset already fitted, plus a new Dia Compe cable holder. Also included Nitto Technomic stem and Nitto Dynamic seatpost (not pictured).

$400. Can deliver around Philadelphia center city or surrounding area.

Thanks for looking.

I've been kind of wanting one of these and it's just my size, but lack that cash.

Thanks, but it's more like a "it'd be nice in theory" rather than something I'm going to try.

My dad worked at a NASA facility here in Cleveland as a supervisory engineer. Lots of buildings at that facility that covered a square mile or so. ANYWAY, back in the Gas Crisis days of the early '70s, he implemented a bicycle program at the facility where there were numerous facility 'pool' bikes. Anyone could grab one and ride to another building. The 'fab shop' was responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the bikes. That bike program was still in effect when he retired in '83. Not fancy bikes, but good quality, no-nonsense (probably Sears) three-speeds bikes that probably cost no more than $50ea at the time. And no, they were not allowed to be taken off base, and IIRC, only one disappeared in ten years. Probably some civilian contractor took it.

My first job out of college was at Lawrence Livermore Lab (1981). They also had a bike pool to allow people to more easily move around the campus.

I should probably clarify that Dad suggested that NASA Lewis implement the bike program as an energy-saving measure, but he didn't implement it all by himself. He also suggested other energy-saving measures but ran into the 'not invented here' mentality of senior managers, but later it would be implemented with the idea supposedly coming from someone else (more senior/higher in the food chain)... Politics...

$250 before negotiation is a good price on an early '80s Miyata 1000 whether you would like to flip it or keep it to ride. Smallish, but that's better than all the huge ones so often out there. Looks to be in decent shape.

Yep. There are a bunch of us with long legs that have an insanely difficult time finding large tourers (62cm +). When they come up, there are about 3 of them at a time, though.

People at the small end have a similar problem because demand is much, much higher.

Edit: The one you posted is a late 70s/early 80s 1000. These are less desirable because they don't have all the braze ons, and the tubing is double butted rather than triple butted. I'm sure it's a fine bike, but the late 80s/early 90s tourers have all the braze ons, the high quality tubing, and the refined ride.

I think this is a pretty fair asking price...it would sell in spring/summer. It's been up for a week, so he might take offers. I think Lotus built some of the nicest imports on the market at the time; honestly I think only Miyata rivals them on quality. He's obviously confused about the tubing.

[h=2] Lotus Supreme with full Dura Ace group 58 cm - $500 (West Chester)[/h]

For the collector or rider. Circa 1983, this Lotus Supreme is in great shape and has a full Dura Ace component group. Columbus Champion #2 frame. Vitoria pro team cords cx tubeless tires. Selle Italia seat is not original. Brake hoods are cracking, but otherwise bike is in great mechanical condition. Weighs in under 21lbs.

True, re the edit. I did notice the DB frame and that there were mounts for one water bottle and no mid fork mounts for lowrider racks. The upside is that the Suntour MK II derailleurs and supurbe shifters were IMHO better than the Shimano they switched to in the mid '80s. That and, well, it's a Miyata

It looks like it has already been semi messed up with cheap flat bars and a mix of replacement non matching components. Which is a shame this is a really nice bike it would be sad to see further abused.
